**Hosni Mubarak, the former Egyptian president overthrown in an uprising in 2011, will be released from jail in the next 48 hours after a prosecutor cleared him in a corruption case, his lawyer Fareed El-Deeb has said. **
The only legal grounds for Mr Mubarak’s continued detention rest on another corruption case which will be cleared up later this week, Mr Deeb told Reuters on Monday.
“All we have left is a simple administrative procedure that should take no more than 48 hours. He should be freed by the end of the week,” Mr Deeb said.
Thanks Democracy and secularism is this what happens in your game of politics. you vote for your choice of party to rule the country. When your party wins the military can come in and kick the democratically elected party out after a year and re install the old gang of criminals along with the vicious dictator who was supposed to be jailed for corruption and abusing people for over 30 years!
Thanks but no thanks stick your hypocrisy democracy where the sun doesn’t shine!

^ at least it was a symbolic punishment, letting him go (in house arrest?) is reassuring to the [to-be]tyrants that you do our (America's) job and we will take care of you always

true but this way of thinking at least will spare us from unnecessary torture...i would be more concerned with hundreds and thousands being killed by the army.
where is the US? trying to come up with some justification for a military coup to throw an elected government?
