Re: Mubahila

Mubaahila literally means** "to invoke Allah's wrath on each other in a debate".

**baHs o mubaaHisa involves no such invoking Allah's wrath.

** here what happend:**

According to Islamic tradition, the christians of Najran were unhappy about the rapid spread of Islam in the lands of Arabia. They wished to discuss this matter with Muhammad and arrived in Medina in630 CE. Learned scholars were selected by the Christians who had a continuous dialogue with Muhammad for three days. It started on Saturday, when Sunday arrived, the Christians asked to leave the city to pray. The Prophet told them to stay and pray inside the Mosque of the Prophet, which they did. Muhammad and the Christians were unable to arrive on any mutual understanding. At this point, Muhammad proclaimed that he had received a revelation (recorded in Sura Al-Imraan):
''If any one disputes in this matter with thee, now after (full) knowledge Hath come to thee, say: "Come! let us gather together,- our sons and your sons, our women and your women, ourselves and yourselves: Then let us earnestly pray, and invoke the curse of Allah on those who lie!" : The next morning, Muhammad emerged from his house with his closest family. He held the hand of Hasan walking beside him, held Hussain in his arms, followed by his daughter Fatimah and finally by his son-in-law Ali. He came and stood with this family in front of the Christian Bishops who also came forward to perform the Mubahela.
The chief of the Christians was bishop Abu Harris. When he saw this small family of the Prophet he turned towards his fellow Christians and told them, "do not indulge in Mubahela with this family, for I am observing such pious faces that if they would order the mountain to come to them the mountain shall move towards them. It is therefore prudent to make treaty with them rather than confrontation of this spiritual imminence." They asked Muhammad for peace and it was accepted. Muhammad extended the hand of friendship towards them, a treaty was signed and both parties left on friendly terms.

Re: Mubahila

The Christians use this event as proving their truth, as within months of this mubahila the prophet (SAW) passed away, Ali (RA) his relative was not made the caliph, Fatima (RA) passed away within six months of his passing away, his grand sons were murdered etc. what do Muslims think about it? I'll share my views later, but it would be good if the views of some scholar is shared.

Re: Mubahila

Mubahila did not happend.

and if some christian even now thinks about this , they can do mubahila with spiritual sons of beloved prophet:saw2: .

Re: Mubahila

i duuno about 6 months.

what do we think as a Muslims?

it's more important for ALL of us.

Prophet's [saws] mission was completed [he delivered the last Khutba]. everyone has to die at an appointed time and that's what i believe in.

wallaho 'aalam bissawaab!

Re: Mubahila

I do not think any Christian scholar/academic would say such as ridiculous thing. Perhaps some Christian website, may be.

Re: Mubahila

In addition to Bao Bihari ... Who has slammed it anyway because the mubahila was avoided so it did not apply ... But here is the true gist of what a curse is that ... worldly death is not a curse ... but how one is remembered and the legacy of what is left behind is more important.

The legacy of RasoolAllah (SAW) is not so much heir as it is his noble message - and we can see the rise of Islam after his (SAW) passing.

Also, even the enemies of Islam and non-Muslims have admired him (SAW).

Re: Mubahila

^ this is exactly what came into my mind. Islam was complete when the prophet (SAW) passed away. As Muslims we believe that life and death are in the hands of the almighty. If this debate (or mubahila) was held to halt the spread of the religion of Islam in the Arabian peninsula, it spread far and wide (towards Persia, Egypt and the Roman Empire). Within a century the Muslims were leading the whole world
