The Retin A…now my issue with ADC is that I tried their Retin A…I broke out horribly. I generally keep my skin clear (its super sensitive and I’ve finally figured out what keeps the spots at bay) with the exception of a couple of pimples every month right around my period. But those were pretty bad.

My question is…the one you’re using…did you go through a purging period and if so how long did it last you? What is the consistency of your Retin A? Is it a yellow-ish gel or is it a cream? And what is the strength of it?

I loved Retin A when my derm prescribed it to me but after that initial tube…nothing has ever worked so beautifully. Has my skin developed immunity to it? Is that even possible?

I’m using Retin-A right now, it was prescribed to me by my doc (strength 0.05%), it’s a cream in a little tube. I’m not sure if I went through a purging period but I had the worst acne I had ever had my in my life when I started using it. I used to have like 5 big pimples on my face at a time, and they weren’t just any pimples…when I popped them, a scary amount of blood used to come out and they hurt a lot. These pimples didn’t go away for a good month or so, even when I was using Retin-A (I don’t know if the medication made it worse initially, or then it just took time to start working). Also, i’ve tried a number of acne creams in the past, they sort of helped for the first few months but then they stopped, I do think I built tolerance to them, it is possible for something to work initially but then stop working on you.
