Who orders from the MUAC website?
What products are you all satisfied with from them?
I was looking at their retinol products and am soooo curious because it sounds very potent but is anyone else using it?

Re: MUAC Website
i hav bought peels(TCA n lactic) a DMAE serum and a skin lightening serum with kojic acid from them. even though i never got gr8 results esp the lightening serum was waste of money but it could be just me. they hav gr8 repu. however i never bought retinol from them.0.1 is the recommended % so go ahead i would say, try a sample first or buy 1 for .1 n 1 for .3%. if u need 20% discount code its"anti-aging"for this month.
i used Roc's retinol and will b starting retin A again..
Re: MUAC Website
I absolutely love MUAC! I have bought the following items from them and have been very happy with all of it:
1) Peels: Lactic (40% & 55%), Glycolic (30% & 40%), TCA (12.5%)
2) Glycolic Body Lotion
3) Argan Oil
4) SuperMatte AntiShine Primer
5) I once got a sample of the Transforming Anti Aging Eye cream and it was nice (although I wouldn't purchase it b/c I think its a bit useless to have separate eye cream).
Reha:
Instead of retinol products from MUAC, why don't you just use plain Retin-A from ADC? It's MUCH cheaper. Plus that's just pure Retin-A versus MUAC's serum which has other ingredients mixed in it.
Also, they always have 15% off code under discounts...but sign up for their e-mail. They send a 20% off code once a month (now and then it's 25%).

For skin lightening, the only thing I'd buy from MUAC is Lactic peels (over time, consistent use of this lightens skin). But if you're looking for skin lightening creams...then I wouldn't buy it from MUAC. You'll need to look for actual kojic acid creams online.....for example: Cape Fear Naturals Cream which has 4% Kojic Acid (I'm assuming you don't want to go the hydroquinone route).
Hope this helps. :)
Re: MUAC Website
^ i hav no grudge against hydroquinone. in fact i hav used it 3 months in my early twenties n the results it gav me were mind blowing. i just tried that kojic acid serum to see if this things works more naturally but it was no effect at all after 3 months of use. Lactic acid gives me no diff in complexion. i hav 55% that i use once a week or sometimes once in two weeks.
i hav bought few tubes of hydroquinone from pak(just 50Rs) but am so lazy to use them.

Hey Paheli, could you tell me the purpose for #2 and #3 and if all the products worked?

Ah ok. Yes hydroquinone works great but many people prefer more "natural" option due to the potential side effects. If you ever feel like giving Kojic another try....them go for straight KA. But yea....nothing will beat the hydroquinone. :)

Glycolic body lotion exfoliates/smoothes out skin just like the peels. The lotion is easier for me to use on the body as opposed to trying to do chemical peels.
Argan Oil moisturizes and soothes skin. If you google it, TONS of information will come up. I absolutely love this and plan on using it for as long as I can. This is also a great massage oil. There are plenty of other options out there for oils (Avacado, Rosehip, Cranberry Seed, Macademia nut etc) so you can try them out to see what works best for your skin. But for me personally, Argan does the job beautifully. :)
Re: MUAC Website
I am not sure if I want to start a round of peels right now.
The Retin A...now my issue with ADC is that I tried their Retin A...I broke out horribly. I generally keep my skin clear (its super sensitive and I've finally figured out what keeps the spots at bay) with the exception of a couple of pimples every month right around my period. But those were pretty bad.
My question is...the one you're using...did you go through a purging period and if so how long did it last you? What is the consistency of your Retin A? Is it a yellow-ish gel or is it a cream? And what is the strength of it?
I loved Retin A when my derm prescribed it to me but after that initial tube...nothing has ever worked so beautifully. Has my skin developed immunity to it? Is that even possible?
Re: MUAC Website
Question: Why the hesitation on starting the peels right now? (On a side note, if your skin is super sensitive, you'll need to stick with Lactic and lower % of Glycolic)
Do you use any glycolic products at all? If not a peel....then you might want to consider doing some sort of glycolic lotion or cream. I have Alpha Hydroxy 12% Glycolic Soufflle (I get mine at Ulta).
Yep, I I went through a purging period for over a month. Just like any other medication, you'll need to give your body time to adjust to it. How long did you use it for? How often did you apply it?
I use the .025% cream from ADC. I usually use it 2-3 nights/week. I've never heard of anyone building "immunity" to RA...especially after using one single tube of it. How long did you use the 2nd tube before you noticed that it stopped working? Did ANYTHING else at all change in your routine?

this website is awesome, think I might be ordering things from here very soon.

I'm using Retin-A right now, it was prescribed to me by my doc (strength 0.05%), it's a cream in a little tube. I'm not sure if I went through a purging period but I had the worst acne I had ever had my in my life when I started using it. I used to have like 5 big pimples on my face at a time, and they weren't just any pimples...when I popped them, a scary amount of blood used to come out and they hurt a lot. These pimples didn't go away for a good month or so, even when I was using Retin-A (I don't know if the medication made it worse initially, or then it just took time to start working). Also, i've tried a number of acne creams in the past, they sort of helped for the first few months but then they stopped, I do think I built tolerance to them, it is possible for something to work initially but then stop working on you.

Paheli, if you've tried peels could you tell us a little about how they work? I really want to try them but i'm a little hesitant putting some such chemicals on my face. Is it a lengthy complicated process? how do the peels from the MUAC website work? you get the little bottles with the solution in it, is that all you use?
Also, i've used a 5% glycolic acid toner for a long time, so I think my skin would be able to tolerate it. Do you think I should go for the glycolic peel or the lactic one? i'm trying to get rid of my stubborn blemishes that i've had for years and the hyperpigmentation my acne has caused.

Well, I have done a round of peels in the past and it worked beautifully to remove scars. I did however become completely dependent on sunscreen and couldn't do anything without it. I don't know if I want to go down that road again and if I can avoid it I'd like to. Although, I'd become dependent on sunscreen with Retin A too. I forgot about that.
One more reason is...I test products on my skin all the time right now. It makes me a bit nervous to try so many things at once.
I am using a 30% glycolic acid cleanser right now at home. It helps a lot in smoothing the texture of my skin and just overall quality. That stuff is amazing.
I ordered the gel from ADC...I think I'll try out the cream instead but oh lord am I fearing the purging. :(
Re: MUAC Website
I m gonna place an order for salicylic acid peel, wish me luckk!!

Each peel shouldn't take any more than 5-10 minutes to complete....it depends on how long your skin can tolerate the peel. MUAC peels are great! Their 1/2 oz bottles will be plenty to start off with. I've never ordered a bigger size. If I remember right, you're using RA already right? That itself will help your skin tolerate any other peels. But please make sure to STOP using RA 3-4 days before the peel. And don't use it for 3-4 days after the peel.
Currently I have both Glycolic and Lactic (I alternate between the two). But if you have acne, the I'd say go with Glycolic. Start off with 30%. It's better to start with a lower % and work your way upto higher %....this way you learn in a safe way what your skin can tolerate. Even with the 30%.....if you can tolerate 1 layer...then you can do 2 or 3 layers to see how much more you can handle.
It's a super simple process.
1) Stop using RA and any other acid containing products a few days before the peel.
2) When you're ready to do the peel....wipe face using the prep solution MUAC sends. The idea is to get all the oil off your face. Personally, I use nail polish remover (yep...you read that right!) with acetone to wipe my face before peels.
3) Wait a minute or two for face to dry.
4) Apply thin layer of peel all over face....I use a q-tip to apply it but others use fan brush or even cotton pads. I feel the fan brush doesn't give me enough "control" and any type of pad wastes product. I apply the peel around the face first (forehead, outer cheeks, chin)...and then I do my nose and inner cheeks. That's b/c my inner cheeks are the most sensitive parts on my face (again I've learned this after doing a few peels).
5) Once the peel is applied....keep watching your skin. You may see it turning a bit pink OR maybe no changes at all. Skin might feel tingly or you may get a slight burning sensation (how you tolerate this depends on how sensitive you are). Keep the acid on as long as you can tolerate it. If the skin gets super pink or you see hints of white appear (this is called frosting)....immediately neutralize it (the easiest way to neutralize is with baking soda). Some people mix baking soda with a little water and apply it to their face. I'm just too lazy for that. I just take baking soda and gently rub it on my face. There is a burning sensation while the acid is being neutralized.
6) Wash face with cold water and apply moisturizer (I use Argan Oil).
7) For the next few days....only apply moistuzier while the skin "heals". Even if you don't see any actual peeling....that doesn't mean that the acid didn't do anything.
** The comments above apply mostly to Lactic and Glycolic peels for beginners. Some of the things relating to frosting and healing are different when you're doing TCA and actually want a controlled amount of frosting. And doing TCA where you want to frost also requires a lot more care. But if you're a beginner, then please don't try to do any controlled frosting UNTIL you learn how your skin responds to acids and you're more comfortable using it.
Re: MUAC Website
Thanks for tips Paheli!!! I'm placing an order for samples of decongestant mask & micro polish as well as the argan oil and the 30% glycolic peel...will keep you guys posted once it comes in!

Paheli, thanks SO much for the detailed reply, it really really helped. The frosting then neutralizing sounds a bit scary, I can already imagine myself freaking out, but i'll learn. Now, for the simplest but most important question.. did it help? is it worth it? did it actually help with acne, scarring, pigmentation as much as it promises?
Re: MUAC Website

For my skin...yes, it's worth it and it has helped me with evening out my skintone and overall appearance. I plan on doing peels for as long as I can.
But always keep in mind....that you must be patient. Results don't happen overnight. And sunscreen usage is a must! Otherwise you won't see any results.
** I should add that I also started trying to eat healthier and working out regularly around the same time I started using all these acids. So I do think the regular exercise and change in diet contributed to the "change" too.
Re: MUAC Website
how often do u apply lactic acid peels and when did u start seeing a difference...that others noticed too...
