MUA in NY

Hey there ladies,

I know we probably have a million threads in regards to this, but I wanted to start a new thread on the latest and greatest make up artist that the Tri State area has to offer!

Does anyone know of any make up artists that offer air brush? I know Laaj Studios does, but I cannot seem to find any bridal make up pix online.

I was looking for a nice make up artist that can do a nice smokey eye, with peachy cheeks, and nude lips. Similar to this pic below… isn’t her make up breath taking?

The first pic is one of most favorites. The only thing I dont like is her lipstick. It would look better if she had glossy nude lips. But other than that I love her look. The green smokey eyes contrast beautifully with her peachy cheeks.

The make up in the second pic is also really nice!

Guys I really need some help. My wedding is in a month, and I havent been able to find a decent make up artist in NY. Please ladies help me out here.

Re: MUA in NY

i used shazad khan (he is in queens (718) 396-2030 and is willing to travel to you to get you ready), he was amazing. he doesn't advertise and doesn't usually do trials. he can be convinced to meet for a consultation, but in his own words, he's not good at selling himself and i second that. people who use him find him by word of mouth and there are certain crowds (including my in-laws crowd) where he is the MUA of choice. i was totally skeptical, but i can't rave enough about him. he was friendly, pleasant, kept me calm as he was getting me ready, was not insulting (i'd heard a lot of horror stories about MUA telling brides their hair was too thin, their face to pimply), and most importantly he's an artist. he gave me very different but striking looks on each day. i was not coated in white paint, i still looked like myself, but a way hotter version of myself.

Does he have a website?

Re: MUA in NY

no website. once you contact him he gives you short-term online access to pictures of his brides to give you a better idea of his work. he doesn’t advertise at all and many of the brides who use him seek him out through word of mouth. as he explained to me many times, most people book him sight unseen based on previous brides he’s done and reputation. after speaking with him, i felt like his vision of how a bride should look was in-line with mine. if he feels that what you want is different from his vision or that he can’t deliver your desired look, he is very honest and will tell you that he is not the MUA for you. although it was a huge leap of faith for me to book with him, i have absolutely no regrets.

as an aside, a friend of mine who got married around the same time used this place:

i wasn’t crazy about all of the pictures, but my friend got to have a trial (major bonus) and really like it. i haven’t seen the wedding pictures yet, but thought it was worth sharing!

Re: MUA in NY

Hey Raheela's In Brooklyn is pretty awesome.
My friend gotten her nikkah and Baraat makeup from there, and mA she looked gorgeous.

Re: MUA in NY

Thanks, I will try to meet with him next time I come up. Saima was already booked on my date.

I have heard horrible reviews about Raheela. I actually went to her Salon because I wanted to get the rook in my ear pierced and the lady there said no they dont do that. Another lady was yelling and screaming “mein tere taangein thor doon ghi” at someone. I got scared and left lol.
