I received this email from a Kristen Havens, an employee of MTV’s Rock the
Vote project. She is looking for minorities (read: Muslims) to be a part of
the MTV
register-to-vote campaign because she thinks that the Muslim voice in politics
has been either absent and/or ignored. This is a great opportunity for Muslims
to voice their concerns about how SECRET EVIDENCE is anti-American and
directly impacts the Muslim community in America. She specifices Harvard
Students in the below email, but MIT, Wellsely, Tufts, BU, and BC Muslim
Students are also more than welcome. If you are interested, email her directly
at [email protected]. Please forward this email along to all Boston
area Muslims.
Was-salaam,

To Whom it May Concern,
I don’t know if you’re aware, but MTV’s year-long anti-discrimination
campaign, Fight for Your Rights: Take a Stand Against
Discrimination, is traveling to eastern colleges starting in late
March. Rock the Vote is partnering with MTV on this event.
Right now, the tour bus is slated to come to Wentworth Institute of
Technology this Saturday, March 31, for a one-day visit. Unfortunately,
Harvard is not being targeted, but it would be terrific if any Harvard
students were willing to make the trek across the river into Boston to
help out with the event.
The idea: to promote awareness of anti-discrimination (i.e. racial
profiling, hate crimes) legislation. I’m responsible for rounding up 15
Rock the Vote volunteers at each stop along the bus tour. Volunteers
will work within the MTV “Village” to register voters, gather petition
signatures, and get students to fill out surveys. The end goal: to
promote awareness of anti-discrimination effforts.
Volunteers would work from about 11 a.m. until the village shuts down
between 5 and 6 p.m. The MTV Village is a ticketed
event including live music and a variety of fun activities. Rock the
Vote volunteers, however, will attend for free.
At this point, I am still in need of FOURTEEN volunteers for this event.
Any help you could give me in locating interested students would be
terrific. This would be a great opportunity for any college
student to get involved, but in particular, it may be of interest to
minority students, students of government and policy , and
students involved in gay, lesbian and bisexual support or activist
groups.
Interested parties can contact me directly at [email protected]
if they want to volunteer to help gather petition signatures or
register voters. If responding by email, interested parties should
please include their names, phone numbers, and email
addresses.
I can also be reached at 310/234-0665 ext. 107.
PLEASE PASS THIS MESSAGE ALONG!
Thanks!
