I wasted time trying to make a partition. I was able to on my PC, but not on my sister's.
In any case, I don't think I can install MSN Messenger on the partitioned drive. That is because it never asks you. It just goes on to install itself where it feels necessary, which is likely on C drive.
Also, where can I get an older version of MSN and would I be able to successfully install and run it? Would MSN Messenger not prompt a message saying a newer version was installed in the past and that I should go fetch the newer version?
Sadiyah, you can get the older version from here. I thought this site was a common knowledge by now on GS:
Cleanse your system from any MSN version and then install version 6.2. I havent experimented with installing the new MSN and then un-installing it and installing the older version, to tell you the truth.
Trial and error.
partitioning or reformatting the drive etc, should be last of the options for any problem
I feel sorry for you, after all the hassle it hasn’t work for you anyways have you tried the web messenger of MSN? since you said the msn messenger use to disconnet but you didnt have any problem with the other messenger(s) and surfing.
you can try this online/web based messenger if you like. I dont know what anti-virus/firewall you are using and is it out of the box with your laptop? http://webmessenger.msn.com/?mkt=en-us
other options are using the old version which already exist on your laptop/computer, simply copy and paste this in “Run” msmsgs.exe it will bring up the old window’s messenger.
another and last option comes to my mind is that you can run “MSN” butterfly wala from start-programs-“MSN” it should only say “MSN” click on it and you can run that too, but I find it a bit annoying.
and last but not least Goodluck :k:
acrobi123, sorry, I forgot to thank you for the partition software. Thanks a bunch.
I’m currently trying to install the older version (6.2) on my sister’s laptop. Will have to see if it installs without any hassles and if it runs fine.
Hey version r u using ....If u r using 7.5 , 8 , they r actually soem heavy ...so they do give problems soemtimes....Do install soem previous vertions ...they r lighter.
Try just 7.0 version , I hope this will solve ur problem..
Someone mentioned check network settings. To an extent, that could've been the issue with sister's laptop, as the wireless network was being managed by Intel's software and not the one by Windows. I switched over to the (traditional) Windows one, and there has been some improvement.
Mine is not so bad. Therefore, I'm not too concerned.
