We’ve read that MSG which is commonly used in chinese/oriental cooking, and smells yummmmmmmmm, has been known to cause migraines and many other health conditions.
SO what’s the verdict?
Do you still use it? Any experiences?

Re: MSG (Ajinomoto)
^ actually if you put vinegar...it kinda taste the same...but still i prefer the original..i mean its not like i use it in everyday dishes...:D
Re: MSG (Ajinomoto)
oh man, I used to ask my local chinese place to add extra msg. Now all the places by my house proudly advertise "NO MSG!!" Sheet.
Re: MSG (Ajinomoto)
I have also heard that it can cause ulcers and/or play a role in dissolving the walls of intestine and cause intestinal cancer.
Some shan masalas also have MSG. We always read the ingredients on the back of the pack and make sure we don't use the masalas with MSG. We also don't use ajinomoto/chinese salt at all. Just use vinegar and soysauce and you wouldn't even feel the need of ajinomoto.
Re: MSG (Ajinomoto)
any source of this information ?
Re: MSG (Ajinomoto)
I used to eat lot of chinese and did not really bother much about MSG. But one particular place, as I finished my dinner, I started getting palpitations...it was really scary. Since then I try and avoid it. Ocassionally in ready made food I do have some, but when I am cooking...i do without. Even sauces, soups etc I try check the ingredients.
