Halal or haram. In maggi noodles it is present so can we use it or not.

lol... it is a salt...so it is all halal..lol... but it is not good for health...can cause ulcers and in the long run even cancer so it is better to avoid it as much as possible.

I saw in the website that MSG is derived from an enzyme obtained from pork.

MSG was originally invented in japan by a professor who went home every evening to a delicious soup that his wife cooked. One day he went home and had the soup, and was disappointed to find that it was not really as delicious tasting as it usually was.
He asked his wife why this was, she said that she had run out of seaweed so omitted it from the soup.
This led the professor to wonder about the seaweed and what might be the ingredient that made the soup so delicious.
He did some tests on the seaweed and discovered ajnimoto (japanese word). He then extracted this salt like substance and used it as a flavour enhancer.
These days, Ajnimoto (MSG / China salt) is produced on a commercial basis from WHEAT, as it is not commercially viable to extract from seaweed.
Health - it is still debated whether it ACTUALLY really IS bad for u.
