msconfig in Win2K

Does anyone know why msconfig wasn’t included in Windows 2000?

Was that an error or it creates instability in the system?

genius bhai: i guess ms was trying to get away from the potential of msconfig… to sell their OWN app .. but they learnt that msconfig as part of os was better solution .. so they re-introduced that in xp i guess..

ofcourse, if its ms, u can always find ways to get around it  tweakui for example does it pretty much for 2k

Re: msconfig in Win2K

I also didnt get the point why they didnt put in Win2k , but you can download msconfig from internet or copy from any XP installation and put it in Winnt\system32 folder.

in XP i think its under windows\servicepackfiles folderm ayway search for msconfig in XP machine and copy it.

Re: msconfig in Win2K

FF, :hehe:

Windows 2000 was in the same line as Windows NT and hence a lot of apps available in the Win95/98 line were not mixed till XP/2003 came out. That’s where they really merged the 2 lines of OS’s together, hence apps like msconfig were included on the servers
