Please comment on what is more beneficial? MS or MBA for someone(female) who has engineering background, working and is married?
-
In the same situation, what is the role of getting the degree from reputable institute? For MBA in Pak, IBA is preferred however many people are getting degree from CBM as it is easy and too much effort are not required.
Re: MS or MBA?
1.its much beneficial to do MS instead of MBA...
reason...
a)she has an engineering background it would be easy for her to study in her own field (in advance) rather than mba...
b)every other person is doing MBA so i dont know if it would be beneficial for her to find job in this field....
c)there are very less people doing MS and it is a NEED for today no matter what profession you choose.....
2.my closest cousins and friends did their MBAs from IBA and it didnt help them in getting a good job in us/canada.....
BUT they got good offers from IBA institute.....if she is seeking a degree from a reputable institute for MBA! then make sure she'll do MS in management later....reputable institute means which should be recognized in other countries....she needs to find those institutes in pakistan otherwise it would be difficult to adjust in US/UK etc....
otherwise i would highly recommend her to do MS in her own field of engineering....
last but not least ask her what she wants to do because HER interest makes a huge difference!
Re: MS or MBA?
Thank you for your response.
Actually the problem is that there are no good institutes in Pak which are recognized abroad specially when it comes to Engineering. I have graduated from NED and now dont want to do Masters from NED. NED`s masters is not worth seriously. On the other hand IBA is better over all. Though I dont know if it would be beneficial to do MBA.
Personally I think I am done with technical education(also no reputable institute is thr in Pak, Khi for MS. NUST is also not good) therefore I thought I should look for MBA side and figure out if it will be good for me.
Rightnow I am on a job where I am handling admin issues more than technical one so I thought I should think abt MBA but no doubt in future I am going to switch the job abroad may be so I am confused! :S
Re: MS or MBA?
^its true there is no good institute for MS....NUST in islamabad....it is a good institute! my friend did her MS from there in communication systems engineering and is currently working in US...as an engineer!
or you can apply for a scholarship abroad for MS?
BUT if your job is related to accounts/admin etc then definitely go for MBA!
only IBA and LUMS are good choices....
good luck! :)
Re: MS or MBA?
IBA, LUMS are best management school in Pakistan. Most of my friends did MBA from there. some of them opted IoBM. No idea about IoBM, I think it is new institute. But again they are working full time in industry.
If you are not kind of people person, but want to stick with specialization of your current filed then MS is good option. In my opinion, MS of NED is not that bad, it is one of the best university of Pakistan which is recognized internationally. If you can pay more, then NUST is also good option.
Re: MS or MBA?
MS of NED IS BAD! I tell you! I got the admission thr but dropped the idea later. MS from NUST ISL is really good. but their Khi campus is not that good. Though people specially people with NEDs bachelor degree prefer NUST for MS.
IoBM is CBM. Actually IoBM consist of three schools from which CBM is their Business School. It is very easy to get degree from IoBM. IBA is tough.
IBA is in my mind now. My Mr. is doing MS CS from IBA too. Still he says dekhlo tumhari marzi hai jo karna hai karo :P
Re: MS or MBA?
yeah NUST(islamabad) is best engineering univ in HEC best engg univ ratings…so go for it!:k:
oh wow if your husband is also there in IBA then join IBA! thts an advantage…
go through the syllabus for both mba n ms then choose wht seems interesting to you!
how does your husband find MS?
sorry to ask you here…i opened a thread about it but no one was answering:bummer:
Re: MS or MBA?
Given the options i will vote for IBA.
Do have some istikhara.
have mashwara from people who know you personally.
Good luck
Re: MS or MBA?
