why agal baat,..... you wear the same shoes to the loo right??...why would you want wear those same shoes where you want to do namaz??.....just a bit wierd...:(

I like the idea of taking shoes off...not only do we pray in our homes but in my house we have super light carpeting and it would be SOOOO dirty if all of us were allowed to have shoe inside.

you wear your shoes to keep your feet clean from all this crap on the streets … ager joote ghar kai ander hi laane hein and un kai saath hi namaaz perhni hai to khuda kai liye joote pehenna band ker do …

paise bhi bach jaain gai tum logon gai … dont try to copy the west they dont know the different between clean and dirty ..

I don't think it is just a desi culture, non-desis do it to, basically just for cleanliness. I go to my friend's place & same thing. THere is wall to wall carpeting in a light gray shade, so it would obviously be ruined if everyone walked across with their shoes. Same is the case with several other friends, and a few who don't mind the shoes....but most have tile or hardwood :)
