Yes, I have seen it and I can tell you that one time is definitely not enough. Some scenes were very disturbing, but overall I would rate this an excellent movie.
Rahul Bose is one of my favourite actors !! The South Indian woman was also exceptional.
Kuddos to both these actors for doing such a fine job ! :k:
She's not south Indian, she's bengali. Her mother Aparna Sen made the movie. Aparna is very fair with those delicate bengali features, but konkona is darker. Her eyes are beautiful. The movie's beautiful too. Some of the scenes were so funny and sad at the same time. Like when they're in the lodge and she thinks he's abandoned her, she say's 'serves me right for trusting a muslim.' The ending was done very well. So much was said in a goodbye.
actually that reminds me of the scene towards the end when he goes to get a coffee and shes like "baby... hes gone. He's left us" and when he comes back.. she gives him the baby and puts her head on his shoulder.. it was beautiful
it was nice cus it showed that married women can fall in love too.. with someone else
^lol- yes, that's true. At least they didn't show her feeling guilty and saying 'god strike me dead now, now!'
And yeah that scene plus some others were truly romantic. My favorite was when she gets jealous and asks him ' were u alone when you lived in that tree house?' and he say's 'why do you want to know?' she keeps quiet. Then when he starts telling her he's going on a new assignment once he reaches calcutta, she asks 'alone?', and he replies, 'yes, unless you're coming with me'. Her confusion, desire, guilt, was written on her face. Very natural. It also helped that it was in english, I think that language sounds less dramatic.
haha so true. i loved the way she spoke though. Always adding 'no' at the end of her sentences.
yeah there was another part where Raja goes "wat does your husband do" and she replies "didnt you know he's a wildlife photographer" its soo unexpected
another beautiful scene was when they have a fight and she thinks hes left, but then sees him in the forest asleep
Right. and the caretaker say's to her ' bibi, not good to fight with husband. sahib eating alone, he leaving'.
and the parting scene, with her husband standing next to them and merrily unaware what's going on. he say's 'goodbye mrs iyer', and she say's 'goodbye mr iyer'. she's trying not to cry. probably thinking of the tree house.
ok, this wants to make me see the movie a second time. i have the dvd.
I'm in love with that movie. SOo very well done.
I made everyone around me watch it :=)
It's films like these that make me stick to watching hindi movies every now and then. Soooo much better than the 'commercial' ones :-)
Some scenes were indeed disturbing. The elderly muslim couple taken out of the bus made my blood boil. I don't want to believe things like that still happen. I loved the whole movie. The way Meenaakshi reacted when she found out that she shared her waterbottle with a muslim, her cute baby, the dialogues, the simplicity. Superb
Rahul Bose is definitely one of my fav actors. He caught my attention in Jhankar Beats.
The old Muslim guy played by well known Hindi author Bhishm Sahani (brother of Balraj Sahani) was great too. He passed away recently. He had written a television serial on partition of India called as "Tamas".
