Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

Great cricketer,
great human being,
great humanitarian,
but a lousy politician!

What are your thoughts?

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

He should have just did what the PML(Q) did, I mean initially he supported the president. Now hes just wasting time, his party has no chance, and him relying on the MAtooz for the time being wont really help.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

I think that he has not marketed himself properly. I have been to his site, and read on what polocies he would implement if in power, and I liked his polocies. He is certainly qualafied to become the leader of Pakistan, as he is a graduate of Polotical Science, from Oxford University. I think he is one of the rare poloticians in Pakistan, that are not after power, but a change for the better in Pakistan. This is evident as he was offered seats by numerous parties, and he even was offered to become Prime Minister, but he refused, only because he knew that he would not be able to accomplish anything for the country, if in that position. If tomorow imran khan becomes president, I would be happy, even though I am a supporter of Mushuraff.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

he use to study in the same class as benezir bhutto.

but his future is in cricket not politics.

what is his website?

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

hes a principled person with ideals. he wont make it in pakistani politics.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

so far i agree with all the above comments.

Re: Mr. Imran “I Flip Alot” Khan

I’ve known a few people associated with Imran Khans party..while I don’t care much for him as a person..but I think he came to the same painful realisation that people like Asghar Khan, Tahirul Qadri, Mian Azhar and many others came too…to be backed by the establishment is the kiss of death for any politician with self respect…

You can either look at Imran as an opportunist whose speeches are basically sour grapes for not becoming Prime Minister …
or like his supporters as someone who was twice offered huge concessions ..once by Nawaz Sharif..who offered him 20 to 30 seats in 1997 and in 2000 by musharraf..Imran agreeing to back Musharraf pretty much nearly wiped out his party..in the beginning because Mushy co opted many people from his party..to join the government and later on the PML-Q..in the end before the 2002 elections..The Musharraf League under the command of Chory Shujat attacked him personally ..bought members of his party and tried to ensure he’d lose every seat he contested..

The truth is…he’s made mistakes..and big ones…but that’s politics for you…and who knows with time he might make something of it…

Just a final comment..an article I remember which had some interesting tid bits about what Imran Khan was going through in the 2002 election:
guardian
“I regret supporting the referendum. I was made to understand that when he won, the general would begin a clean-up of the corrupt in the system. But really it wasn’t the case,” he said.

In July the general’s powerful principal secretary, Tariq Aziz, tried desperately to convince Mr Khan to join a pro-military alliance of political parties. But their meeting ended in acrimony. “You will never win your seat now,” Mr Aziz told him.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

i feel sad for the guy
bivi choR k chali gai :(
he's still tryna be a good dad tho

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

I think he is beginning to learn some humility - lack of that was his biggest weakness. With some more time & maturity I believe he has potential to be a leader for you.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

there's going to be an interview of him with Naeem Bukhari on Hum TV Sunday night 2200PST. the trailers show Naeem Bukhari (who's gained quite some weight) asking him personal questions too; marriage, future prospects etc.

Re: Mr. Imran “I Flip Alot” Khan

agree completely

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

Should be given a free reign to sort out the PCB and rule Cricket Pakistan like a dictator, much like in his playing days. As for politics, sure, he'd make a good PM, is well known and liked globally, a presentable face for Pakistan.

Re: Mr. Imran “I Flip Alot” Khan

His wife divorced him for HUGH GRANT! Give him the break.

He should never been the politician, he can always be the head of the PCB that would work well for Pakistan cricket.

Re: Mr. Imran “I Flip Alot” Khan

Outstanding cricketer, most successful captain for Pakistan, great humanitarian BUT lousy politician. Lacks humility, patience and demonstrated poor judgement backing the MMA when he should be projecting the image which Pakistanis like about Imran Khan. By the way, Khan Sahib too is a by-product of establishment shennanigans, owes his introduction into national politics to Gul Hameed & company. Two of his early associates made the following comments:

  1. Mairaj M Khan said “This man is in a great hurry”
  2. Naseem Zehra said “Khan Sahib doesnt need anybody”

Both of these party members are no longer with Tehreek e Insaaf. IK was always considered to be a one man show, worked well in the cricketing field cause he did not have to face any dissent, politics is a totally different ball game.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

he doesn't want to be a Musharraf 'yes' man

therefore he is doomed

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

he is an idealist, hence will remain a faliur in politics.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

though he ought to be respected for the fact that he dosnt want to be 'yes man only, he appears a bit pointlessly kiddish with his impractical demands and dream at the moment. he could have joined the regime without being a 'yes yes' man too, could have done well working on some portfolio but wasted the chance out of living in dream world of sorts. he's done well developing his winning constituency Mianwali.

Re: Mr. Imran “I Flip Alot” Khan

I actually voted for this guy dammit - I wonder why no one else does in Pak! They always bring the same looteras into power, few years later wanting them to get out of power. Why won’t anyone give this guy a chance? I think he’d make a brilliant leader. He’s truly a visionary.

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

well we will only only find out if he is good leader if he is given a chance...considering the political situation in Pakistan and the fact that only 2 parties (other than military) always come to power in pakistan ...my question is will he ever get that chance?

Re: Mr. Imran "I Flip Alot" Khan

he can be a good leader, no doubt, he's not corrupt and has positive hopes and visions, not just for his arse resting on a nice cushioned chair or having more swollen bank accounts, but for Pakistan, the only problem he has is that he doesnt seem to completely comprehend the current confusions and go with the flow in the sense that he could act pro regime and start adding his input and get some good out of it now too, being anti regime and disregarding everyhting the govt is doing and allying up with a bunch of freaks doesnt do his image any good. and it sure doesnt help Pakistan or Pakistanis a bit.
