MQM is the most secular party in pakistan. PERIOD. I have read many things about MQM, but give credit where it is due. I also read that recently, they walked out of the assembly to protest against some religious bill, while all the other parties supported it.
My observation is that most non-Muhajir's hate MQM and make fun of the party. However many karachites love MQM and are very loyal to the organisation.
Lastly, the politics of pakistan is worse. Even worse than India. I find that many educated pakistanis making fun of the MQM leader on his personal life and looks. I have seen that many punjabi's consider MQM as a Mafia party, which is degrading.
