^^ cause its the Qaddafo of Karachi not a CEO of a corporation we are talking about. Its the DON of karachi who runs a mafia gang called MQM using informed as well as innocent followers.
One thing true about Altaf is that he is not corrupt himself. At least not to the level that other politicians are. On the other hand, people had been complaining that MQM members are getting involved in corruption themselves. It was so bad that PTI received substantial votes from the core constituencies of MQM. If certain MQM candidate won with 100,000 votes then PTI candidate took 50,000 votes. That is a lot. Altaf must have started feeling the heat.
Obviously, he thinks that the root of the problem lies with Rabita Committee. So he dissolved it. It could also be that he is making the Committee mere scapegoat for his own mistakes. Because he should have known all along the corruption seeping into the party. He should have taken this action long time ago instead of waiting until seeing the election results.
Now thing to watch out for is the reaction of those high-level Rabita Committee members who were relieved of their responsibilities.
Altaf is not corrupt? Does he sing at bachelor parties or work in british govt to live such a life and do khitaabs all the time? Challo, I can give him low cost calls through skype, but his speeches have been going on long before skype was even born or went mainstream. The very first step for MQM to really survive is to let go of altaf hussain (let him face his cases) and then other criminal elements.
Of course, I don't think that MQM would win in central punjab, but if MQM is seen as a good party then it can gain roots in KP and southern punjab like it was gaining good will until the end of musharraf's term where it shot itself in the a$$. I don't know how PTI fares in KP so KP might be open next time, though I don't think that MQM's "soft power" would improve right away (in 4 years time elections) if altaf hussain pulled a houdini.
But but people tell me that qaddafo was nice as people had free healthcare, education, no islamic fundos etc. and it was all a conspiracy…
He is eternal like Steve Jobs and also is protected with a blasphemy law pakistani style.
I thought that we did or would give amnesty to BLA as part of “national reconciliation”? My point about ANP was that it is a regional party pretty much like mqm and bacha khan never had choice words for Pakistan which is another complaint against mqm.
Steve Jobs passed away, and with his passing away so did the fame of iPhone, or well it eroded anyways. As for him being protected, we all have our supporters and opponents. The main point being, why doesn't the party boot him for the better of the party itself. Party can sustain itself with a better party head who is actually in the country, realizes the ground realities, and wants to genuinely work to address issues rather than ride tide waves to power in every successive government, and if he doesn't find the chance to officially wield the power, turns to threatening the public.
What is he going to do? Come to Pakistan to talk sense in to them if they remove him as the party chief? :D I Tease...
Ok. Fair point. Let me rephrase "Why don't the disgruntled members who want to better the party convince their fellow members, and select a different party head".
I feel in the garb of reorganisation of MQM, some ‘workers’ might get killed. A victim card being prepared to counter the plunging popularity? According to Faisal ‘Armed gunmen’ had hold of polling stations, and they tried to rob MQMs mandate in the elections.
