Re: MQM’s reorganization?
What good MQM has brought so far or has to offer to the Pakistan, that makes you think that they should re-org? I think this gang should dissolve. All the clean ones are either dead or are side lined. If there are few left, they have APML or other parties to work for.
I think with PTI’s emergence, there is no need for a regional party in the most important city of Pakistan. Karachi should be represented by federal party that has representatives from all province. There should be a divided mandate in big cities, so couple of seats to JI and PPP wouldn’t harm. This is important, so when it comes to the local body elections, there is always a good opposition to have a check and balance.
If it were Lahore where majority belongs to one ethnic group, its different. PMLN or PTI can hold onto the city in Nat/Prov and upto some extend local bodies as well. But for a complex city like Karachi, the mandate must be for some federal parties, that not only will unite ppl with the rest of the Pakistan, but divided mandate will put pressure to do more and do it right for the people.
