KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) will stage a rally in the port city of Karachi tomorrow to show its solidarity with the Pakistan Army, Rangers and other law enforcement personnel fighting against terrorism, DawnNews reported.
The rally would be held on Karachi’s Shahrah-e-Quaideen at 3 pm in the afternoon.
A meeting of its central coordination (Rabita) committees in Karachi and London decided to hold the rally.
Speaking to members of the Rabita committee, MQM chief Altaf Hussain said the public and the army shared a united stance against terrorism.
He moreover appealed to the public to participate in the rally in order to prove that they were with the Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies against fighting militancy.
Meanwhile, party members, along with the MQM leadership, support the crackdowns against terrorists.
Speaking at a Haleem party in Karachi, MQM member Babar Ghouri said the political leadership of the country had mandated the federal government to restore peace in the country during the All Parties Conference (APC) meeting and not to hold peace talks with the Taliban.
Should other political parties be a part of that rally to give a collective verdict to the terrorists?
Before army operation where were their rallies? Forming rallies against TTP do not make them better than TTP. Opportunists and back stabbers always playing cheap politics. Since this issue is now rightly tackled by army, no one should make political scoring on such operation.

They might be the pioneers (which was JI by the way) but now they have competitors in the shape of TTP and PAC. if MQM is doing this for political point scoring, does PPP do similar things for Allah kay waastay?

Little better . They don't use the name of Islam for killing , robbery , Looting , extortion and ransom . No suicide attacks by them .

Interesting, probably that is why PPP did not initiate any counter-terrorism because it was not really threatened to lose any 'constituency' to TTP. Same goes to PMLN then.

MQM is the only one who gave a heads up to Sindh Govt back in 2008-09 when TTP was making space in Karachi on the back of ANP and PPP to tackle MQM but nobody took the note and once TTP got stable, they kicked back their own ANP brothers and now paying the price.

MQM has ALWAYS been against Taliban and other extremists. It has always supported army operation. They were the only to talk of Talibanization of Karachi while PPP used to deny it.
Your post is the true representation of PPP Sindh's mindset. They would rather tolerate Talibanization of the city then to do something which, in their narrow-prejudiced mind, might benefit people they hate the most, MQM and Urdu speaking people.
