KARACHI: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and the Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) have decided to join forces to raise the issues facing the metropolis, in a rare political move days after Karachi’s Deputy Mayor, a former leader of the MQM, defected to the PSP.
According to Geo News, MQM leader Farooq Sattar will address a press conference at the Karachi Press Club today (Wednesday) which would also be attended by some PSP leaders.
Personally, I think it is a good move, if the intent is what is mentioned in OP i.e. to address Karachi’s problem. But Alas, most of time, MQM remained part of problem than being part of solution. Hopefully, they learned from their mistakes for the sake of good.

I don’t think if this has any impact on PTI. PTI followers have tried their luck in 2013 and to be honest, I don’t find same level of commitment for PTI now (whether there is any merger of MQM factions or not). PTI failed to address concern of the city in between. There is even no active opposition shown for matters affecting city. Did they talk about census fraud (May be I missed something, but I don’t remember anything at least from top leadership).

This explains why PTI was not active in Karachi!!! the script writer hasn’t ant role for them and were planning to merge MQM minus Altaf Hussain!!! at that is what exactly happened!!!
I see no Good coming out of it to be honest! unless and untill focus turns from Muhajirs to thr betterment of the people of the Province and Federation!!!
I hate to say, but establishment have not learned anything and they are playing their dirty games!!! Karachi most likely to continue under most uneffective and useless govt, They’ll never ever let MQM united to have CMShip of Sindh!!! maximum they’ll get this broken mayorship where they dont even have power to remove garbage of the city!!!
