It is a do or die situation for MQM. It must rise to the occasion and remove the talibanics from the shining city of Karachi.
Talibanics have acquired deep roots in the Karachi Madrassahs. And the only way they can be removed is a long sustained campaign against the terrorism in the name of Islam.
Let’s see if MQM has the intellectual abilities to deal with this important facet. If MQM doesn’t step in, Karachi may become the next Lebanon or worse the Islamic Jannat of Mugadeshu.

This could turn into an ethinic rift or a sectarian rift as mostly jihadi madarrasas belong to deobandi or al hadith people.

I see a pathan vs. mahajir fight coming into play in such a situation. There are tons of afghans in karachi and parties like jamatis who would love to do their ghunda ghardi in karachi. Who knows we might even see PPI goons as well?

Let Karachi be level ground field for all the parties, removing badmashi of MQM, and then see how many seats they can get? Agar koi challenger nahin hay to, phir yeh dehshat gardi kaisi?

MQM must clean its own house before dealing with the Talibani menace. If MQM is corrupt, how could people trust her?
But I have hopes for MQM as it is the party of educated elite and you know educated elite can do wonders if they get their heart in it. So far those educated hearts are corrupt, but it won't be for long before they see the light of the day.

i might be wrong about this, but I am yet to see, in my very recent voting experiences, coercion on the part of MQM. in my household one side of the family traditionally votes PPP the other MQM in an MQM dominated neighbourhood. I voted PTI last two times from two different neighbourhoods. Forced votes may be an occurrence, but not a significantly large enough norm to change results.

Forcing people to vote is pretty widespread in the feudal parts of Pakistan - interior Sindh and the Seraiki areas. I have seen that with my own eyes.
