LAHORE: Member of National Assembly belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Tahira Asif has died late Thursday night after suffering from injuries she sustained after being shot in Lahore, DawnNews reported.
After being shot on Wednesday, the lawmaker was rushed to Shaikh Zayed Hospital from where doctors had initially said that the condition of the female lawmaker was critical.
SP Iqbal Town had said that Asif had received two bullet wounds.
Eyewitnesses had claimed that the MNA was wounded while resisting a robbery attempt.
MQM chief Altaf Hussain had condemned the incident and claimed that the attack on the MQM lawmaker had taken place according to a planned conspiracy, saying that police was trying to portray the incident as a mugging attempt.
Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif took notice of the incident and had sought a report from the Inspector General of Punjab police.

The thought that Punjab being known as the proud birth place and breeding ground for all kinds of political movements and ideas may become a news from history, really scares me.

In early 1990s MQM thought they could do politics peacefully but time has made them learn that terrorists and killers in politics, especially people like BeNazir, Nawaz and Shahbaz ... would not let anyone play clean politics and that is what PPP and PMLN did, started operation against MQM on two fronts ... one was persecuting and killing them ... and other was propaganda full of lies and accusations (what these days PMLN is doing against TUQ and his party).
Now, MQM has learned that to do politics in Pakistan and survive, one have to also know to defend themselves ... and now I believe if PMLN has again taken the route of 1990s then they would face opposition not with soft flowers but with iron ... I mean flowers made of iron. I have feeling (from the tone I am listening) that 'Agar Lash giray gee tou her taraf giray gee ... sirf aik taraf kee nahi giray gee'.

mister, Canadian government declaired MQM a terrorist organization. Many intenational organizations Put blames on MQM. MQM was involved in mass Killing and bhta khori, in khi in 1990s. They introducted these terms to the people of khi. That is why operation was launched against them. And still u MQM supporters are talking about "Lash and bodies" it is nt 1990, it is 2014 my friend... Reading ur post, i must say, TTP and MQM fall in same categury. Government of pakistan should follow the footsteps of Canadian government and declair MQM a terrorist organizaton and should lanuch army opertaion just like Zarb e Gazab... Loss of life is regrettable, but I kind of feel sorry for this lady. She has been contesting from my NA constituency (NA126) for the past many years and has been unsuccessful in all her attempts. This was probably the first time she became an MNA on MQM's special quota for women.

Why she has to go to Lahore to support TUQ's PAT, good for nothing? She should have not. She behaved dumb and stupid, though unfortunate and her visit to Lahore at crucial time was suicidal.
In past there were a number of famous people were killed in Karachi, allegedly by MQM. Its leader and his cronies always forget that these cold blooded murders will trigger reactions in future, will haunt them with the same consequences.
