**LAHORE: A delegation of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) led by its convener Dr. Farooq Sattar held a meeting with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders Javed Hashmi and Shah Mehmood Qureshi here Tuesday.

Talking to media men after the meeting, Dr. Sattar said he had realized at the meeting with the PTI leaders that both the parties hold similar views and invited Imran Khan to Nine Zero - the MQM headquarters in Karachi.
He said presently a number of ominous clouds were hovering over the country and in this context the MQM would continue the process of dialogue with political parties.
PTI leader Javed Hashmi on the occasion said the political parties should have a national agenda also, as the country is facing serious challenges like loadshedding, law and order and inflation, etc.
Dr. Farooq Sattar said Senator Raza Rabbani’s statement in connection with the 18th amendment carried substance. “We have our reservations over non-implementation of its provisions,” he added.
^^ Don't read to much into it, IK was invited to 90 in 90s as well and IK went there, nothing happened, MQM/ANP are the opportunist of highest caliber, their meetings with PTI is just to increase their market value in front of Zardari, otherwise if they havebeen serious, they would have never taken part in favoring Toheen-e-Adalat bill which was discarded by the SC and later Altaf Hussain was found saying that if parliament is not allowed for legislation then it should be closed ( taunting SC)...
PTI has repeatedly said that they will not go into an alliance with any of the current status quo parties, and that list has included MQM. I hope that remains the same.
However, this overture by MQM, and the joint press conference yesterday may signal that perhaps some in PTI are in favor of forging alliances. It would be interesting to see if they do it or not, and if they do, does it backfire on PTI or not. I personally feel that this is more a signal by MQM indicating its tiredness with PPP, and perhaps a sign that they will not ally with PPP in the coming elections.

Silaaj: MQM always inclined towards power. Their recent history suggest that if PPP again comes in power, they will make alliance with them too.

Any party which comes to power in the next elections will need to have good working relations with them. However their image is not that good in the rest of the country, where they should work on. Maybe this conference is the beginning of their rebr@nding?
^^ Why would MQM ally with any party, they have fix 15-20 NA and some good number of PA seats in Sindh Assembly, that is enough to get them some role in the center and provincial level... and safe guard their activities, such as Bhatta Khori and Bori-b'nd dead-bodies for scare-tactics...

The moment Altaf supported Zardari as president, MQM image was severely effected. Party is currently facing loads of question internally or at least vote level.

Thanks for the correction... they have 25 seats in NA and 52 in PA, hence instrumental in law making and played important role in keeping NRO away from the parliament, although their bargaining position have been compromised since PML-Q have joined govt.

yeah probably NA204 hhm 240 little confused. if JUI and PMLN set an alliance on it. I am very much interesting about Liyari result in comming ellection.
The MQM chief’s latest novelty — arming traders to counter increasing extortion — is extremely disturbing, especially considering its or-else nature, giving government agencies four days before a hundred thousand strong (and armed, certainly) party workforce is assigned vigilante protection duties.
what they did not mention is , Traders will have to bear the expenses …!! … of such vigilante protection posting .
^^ I think the traders and business men and industrialists should give in to this demand of Altaf bhai, and stop paying any kind of taxes o the govt and should also ask MQM to floor a bill in the parliament where the business men in Karachi should not liable to any tax after what they have paid to MQM... govt can charge certain % of the collection...
also, takeaway Police and rangers, why to waste this much money and resources on them... Altaf bhai can provide security and every other thing...
