Goverrnor house, President house, with its expenses, visits to any vacation home of head of any country, chief of army house, visits of officials to any country with lots of extra people, Any Army lavish mess food, their butler, chaprasi, police clothings, shoes, other expenses etc etc. Any other officials in the world .........
.......spend money from public account...let alone a private party money.
part of budget though right? make a provision in budget for homes for mayors etc and if ppl buy that provision, fine by me.
if govt has some fund set aside to reward who the govt feels merits awards of such level, fine by me.
this is a little more arbitrary though isnt it?
When you said arbitrary, I think you mean, there is room for corruption?
Indeed there is room for it.
Don't care about MQM personally but I think more bashing of this party on any reason makes it more popular. A party decided (if it indeed did) then what is the issue? People do not give money to party for a specific reason anywhere in the world. That is why it is not Tax deductible.
They give money to support the party and its people and mainly its cause or what it stands for...right or wrong by standard of others.
It becomes an issue between the party and its donators if anything wrong is done by the party and the party has to give an answer to its donators one way or other.
Now third party AKA anyone opposing the party tries to use this as a political agenda and looks silly in front of those people who would still be loyal to the party..isn't it? In the end, the first party wins with good name!
What I tried to say is that any party money is private money, not really public money since the money was given on vlounteer basis.
A house given to this man from his party will not make an iota of difference to people who gave the money to the party as we have seen over decades.
Yes it comes from government money but the purpose is purely appreciation or acknowledgment of services. I have never known that best performers have ever been awarded a house.:)

my point was that if we are looking at it from a waste POV then even building some sort of memorial chowrangi thing would come from public funds which was one of the items you noted. I am not saying since that would come from public funds and so would the house so the house is okay. I am opposed to both.

so what are you saying it is from party funds and not govt budget?
just wanted to understand your point better
Agreed with you 100%, he should not have compensated/appreciated by spending government money, which requires some sort of public approval through assembly or approval of PM or President. But in this case his leader who is a British resident awarded him house bought from stolen government money or with batta (forced contribution), negating the very concept of so called best performance by this mayor. Had he been honest, he should have denied such bribery. But it shows he is not.
Perhaps his belief is "muft hath aaay to bura kya hay":)

I am not saying it nor I have any idea from where the money would have come for the gifted house, the first post and title of thread suggests, the party gave him the house.
The first post also suggests, despite he has huge control on lands and houses, he lived in a rental house.
If indeed the money came from Govt. account then one can criticize the act.
Mustafa Kamal has done wonders for Karachi. Jalnay walay to jalain ge but we Karachiites know how well he has done for Karachi. People only need to find excuses to bash good work by the CDGK but we know how well Karachi has got in recent years.
And from where his party got money, land for gifting him house?
I think you have to ask the person who would know. But I am surprised you are not aware that all parties around the world get donations from many sources.
Agreed but the method of collecting donations is different by this party. I doubt if any big donation is given voluntarily in Karachi. Mostly through batta system run by area commanders.:)
I am Karachi's well-wisher, and I won't abuse someone who did remarkable job and turned the face of the city.
People who are full of prejudice see absolutely NO good in what Mustafa Kamal accomplished. This just shows the hate they have against the residents of Karachi. It is prejudice because Mustafa has won praises from around the world for giving Karachi his 100%.
Is it possible that EVERYONE in a city of millions would appreciate one single person and never criticize him for anything? I don't think so.
People need to look beyond the narrow confines of nationalities and ethnicities.
When this corrupt racist money laundering loudmouth 'ullu ka patha' became Nazim, even students that supported him through their MQM Badmaashi got Yamaha bikes. Ofcourse, reverse the trickle effect and keep going up; him getting a 'makaan' and then Altaf Bhai himself getting mansions in the UK.
Looks like he purchased these properties in London during his mayorship of one decade and during Mush's era. After all part of budget of Rs 100 bn and batta has to be utilized somewhere.:)
