Masters in Public Administration…what is the job market like for people with this degree? Anyone pursuing this degree on GS or know anyone pursuing it? What are the facts and figures regarding careers taken up after u’re done with this degree?

Although most MPA programs were originally meant for people seeking management careers in the government and non profit sectors, I’ve noticed a general lack of awareness about the programs in these circles. Most officials still perceive MBAs to be somewhat superior and with a broader skillset that can apply equally well in the public and nonprofit sectors.
This is just based on what I've heard from friends who've completed the MPA program.

Shweetz, I don’t know about USA, but my husband did an MPA and found that there are very few ppl who know what they are getting into. Most don’t like working in the government and end up switching to private sector which makes me think they were probably better off doing an MBA instead. He didn’t find it gave him a better chance at a job because even the ppl who work in gov’t don’t even know what the program entails.
