How easy or difficult it is for someone from Lahore to adjust @ Saudia- Jeddah?
Very Easy.
more than enough desis (punjabis are in the majority besides hydros), everything desi under the sun is readily available, better schools, better infrastructure... everyone speaks english.. and if you want to live with desis, you can pick areas like khalidya, azzizyah.
will you be working?
good luck.
Re: Moving to Saudia
you may not like the restrictions imposed by the government on women there.
as a man, i wouldn't accept them keeping my passport during my stay there. i don't part with my passport. i wouldn't like to live under constant checks by police and restrictions on movement within the country.

What? Why do they do that?
Re: Moving to Saudia
One thing you need to know that what is your compound like. Most expats live in compounds and it's important to know what communal facilities you'll be getting. There are going to be a lot of desis around so it's not going to be difficult to find Pakistani community.
In some areas of Saudia women cannot walk out of their homes alone. If they need to catch a taxi the husband needs to catch it for them. If they have a car then either the husband takes them places or the drivers. In more conservative areas you can't even go shopping alone but Jeddah is more liberal so you're in luck. At least going out alone to shop is okay.
Unless you're a teacher or a doctor the chances of you finding work is not that great.
what is your career path?
teachers, drs, all areas of finance and marketing, photography are easy jobs to come by in.
oh and sales reps. malls, shops etc.
jeddah is quite liberal and you can go out and about alone without any worry.
as for the passport part. that doesnt concern you directly. any rishta you converse with in arabia will already have done that bit when they landed jobs in the country, unless they found a way to not, (semi saudi families etc).
Re: Moving to Saudia
Zareen, you should ask in the general section of GS.. I think there are quite a few more people from Saudi who can help answer your questions..
Re: Moving to Saudia
You will have a more feel of pakistani cultutre then in other GCC countries. Even if living in jeddah may have some negative points but the best is you can drive to haram in around 50 minutes.
Re: Moving to Saudia
and you dont have to live in a compound if you dont want to. we did not and it was okay, had neighbors from sudan, pakistan, lebanon, saudis, no problems at all.
true.. i think there are a few from jeddah on gs…
im from there myself ![]()

Undoubtedly that's the highlight and for me the only attraction for living there!
That does not say much about the gentleman you are considering to marry ![]()
Re: Moving to Saudia
just be sure to check the guy out thoroughly ... espcially in regards to family visa.. not every employee gets one ... some work on bachelor visas only.
Re: Moving to Saudia
This one does ![]()
Re: Moving to Saudia
