Right people I’m a student in the UK on Computer Science degree. I’m probabaly the only person from my siblings who prefers Pakistan over UK and was thinking of moving to Pak after once i fell ready to do so. I have family living in a village near Gojra. Family involved in agriculture and a few busineses. those who do get a decent education get on the first availabe flight out.
As a way of finding out what kind of a job prospects a person has in Pak I was thinking of doing a Masters thier, find out as much as possible withough over commiting. What kind of money does it involve for a year I noticed some uni’s charge more for foreign students but if I have a Pak passport, ID card would I be classed a local ?
Another way of earning money I thought was using my PC skills i used to make and sell PC’s to the odd person who asked me and provide support to users. What kind of a IT hardware market is their in pakistan, saturated, developing, heavy competiton, monoplies ?
What kind of wage/sallary does a IT graduate earn in Pakistan and what are the main areas of employment in the industry. My prefered area of residence would probabaly be Islamabad or Lahore if thats of any help.
Edit: Any large military contractors in Pak like we have BAe systems in UK ?
First of all please note that I left Pakistan at the age of 17 about 17 years ago. So I don't have much experience of working there so my response is based on only what I have seen in my frequent travels there!!
Firstly I would strongly advise you not to do your MSc in Pakistan. Although your plan sounds good, actually your degree will be pretty worthless as you will be competing with people with Foreign degrees!! The best thing to do is to do your Masters in the UK. There are not many jobs available in pak in compsci asnd most people end up teaching others.
As far as making PCs goes, there are thousands of computer shops in every city and the competition is so fierce that there is hardly any profit margin in it. Each shop has a couple of "computer experts" and a further 2 or 3 trainees. So you have no chance to earn a decent living out of that.
I am sorry for sounding very negative but you have to recognize these facts before you commit yourself. Obviously the best way is to find out for yourself. What I would suggest is to do an MSc in the UK. Then take a year out. Go to Pakistan and become a teacher (Comp Sci and/or English). You should be able to get a job in a decent school or computer training centre / college in Lahore or Pindi. Do that for a year or so and you will be able to assess the situation for yourself. That way you can come back too if you don't fit and claim it as a year out travelling on your CV- will sound impressive.
And finally do not under estimate the tallent and skills of the local pakistanis. There is a feeling here in the UK that anyone from here would get a very good job in pak just because they have a british degree and are fluent in english. Actually as the jobs are very few and far between, there are many many good highly qualified (from the best unis in the world) candidates for each job. So be realistic when you go there.

speaking from a purely career oriented view, a UK masters would bring u much better jobs than a Pak masters. i think u should do ur masters from UK and come here after that as Khattana said.
but then again, it depends on what u wana achieve in life thru this experience, and u shud decide accordingly if u wana do masters in pak or uk
for the fees, i think u should contact the unis and check...a good place for MS would be LUMS in lahore or else FAST...these institutions have websites with contact info etc

there's a whole range from very low 8000 rupees per month to 50,60 thousand and higher...it really depends on the company u work for...being a british grad i think u shud get atleast 25,000 above per month

not sure abt this. and i dont think u being an individual without repute/contacts would be able to land these contracts anyway, but i could be wrong.
