Alright, so I am planning on moving back to Pakistan inshaAllah by the end of next summer. I am looking into the job market in Pakistan to see what sort of potential job can I land.
Here is a bit of a background:
Bach in Math
Worked as Software Dev at University for 2 years (under a professor)
Worked at RIM for 2 years (2005 - 2007)
Working at IBM for almost 2 years (2007 - current)
I primarily work as a web application developer with focus on user interface design.
any ideas on what can be the expected job salary over in Pakistan? Interested in moving to Karachi (but open to other major cities)
I would advise you to do freelance web development in Pakistan by bidding on guru.com , elance.com , odesk.com , I know many Pakistani web developers who are minting money this way. You have enough experience already to turn your small shop into a big business back there by hiring more people.
Mirch bhai.. that's not a bad idea.. i am already working on some of my own ideas that i want to pursue fulltime there.. i have some savings right now and will have double of that when i actually do move.
I am currently working on mazaydar.com -- and would like to concentrate on that further .. so the job was to secure some income while i adjust my game plan for my own startup.
well being a web application developer with couple of years' experience on your belt , you must be looking around 60 to 80 k in Pak rupees !
Be a development manager , and you would be around 120 to 150 K
We recently hired some power builder guys for our core banking project , and they are getting around 100 k .. I still think , they sold themselves for less due to the current market scenario .
My situation is very similar. Some differences that I have about 14 years of IT experience (application development), mostly in mainframe and j2ee technologies and recently have been working as a Technical Manager in a fortune 100 company. Planning to move back to Pakistan but so far have been quite unsuccessful in getting a response. Still waiting for a good opportunity.
If you want to find a job better look for an MNC career, as local companies does not pays well. otherwise try to establish your own business but this is not everyone’s cup of tea.
With a sound experience and a foreign qualification, you can easily get a good job in any of the major cities of Pakistan. As someone said, freelancing is the best way to quick money, nonetheless, if you want to build up a career in a good multi national firm, you should visit some one of the job sites. There are many companies alone in islamabad that can pay you around 80 k to 100 k alongwith attractive benefits.
