Thank you!

Btw can any UK ppl in here please tell me how the salaray rate is in UK - London area? My profile is M.Sc. in softwaredevelopment and B.Sc. in business administration..with 5 years parttime work experience in investment bank..and 1 year work experience in IT division of Bank and 1 year experience in US software company.

Whats the income tax rate in UK?

Re: Moving to London, UK

Salary rates are higher in London compared to rest of UK and also living cost.

you have 2 years full time and 5 year part time. with that experience you may not be considered for very senior jobs. you will get better rates than a fresh graduate though.

Contracts pay is higher but assigments are short, you will be looking at rate of ranging from £300 per day to £500+

Permanent Jobs
IT in Investment banking is hot , you can expect minimum of £35K per year to £50K per year at top end.

for non investment IT jobs you can expect £28K to £45K at top end.

Re: Moving to London, UK

Approx 22% of your salary will be payed as tax, in addition to that you’ll be paying National Insurance Contributions ( don’t know how that is worked out…).

If you will be renting or even buying your own property u have to pay Council Tax. If u buy a car then you have pay Road Tax and have your car M.O.T’ed and insured every year.

No doubt, when you buy a house u will buy a television too, u will have to pay tax on that too.

Welcome to UK.

Re: Moving to London, UK

tax and national insurace rate are 31% for salary upto 28K per year, anything above will be subject to 40% deduction.

cool munda is right, on top of that you have to pay for local tax, about 100 per month, tv license if you dont share with some one is about £11 per month.

for car you have to pay £170 per year road tax and insurace as per your car and your age.
