Are their any conditions or reasons which could make you consider moving back to Pakistan on a permanent or even a temporary basis? Would anybody do so by their choice with no obligations or conditions involved.
To those who dont EVER see themselves moving or going to Pak…what are your reasons?
Discusso please
PS let’s keep it civil and not jump into the FOB vs ABCD/BBCD war here
My father moved back about 25 years ago after living in the US for 12 years. He always wanted that and was clear about it when he came here. His primary reasons were that after he completed his education and training here he wanted to practice in Pakistan, his family was there and he wanted to raise his kids there. He successfully did that.
Another family I know moved there from US with four kids, two of which were teenagers at that time.He wanted them to go to college and med school there and his idea was to move the entire family. The kids somehow did not adjust well. The entire family returned after two years, although their daughter went back. to med school there and is living in a hostel.
^it does make sense. People who have lived a good number of years in Pak and then moved abroad they would still have a few reasons to go back family, affiliation with the country etc.
So chipsy do you see yourself moving back somewhere in the future? If yes what would be YOUR reasons?
^^That was the reason for my father and maybe that was why he adjusted or wanted to adjust despite facing few hardships. The other family I am talking about had been in the US for a longer time than being in Pakistan so maybe they had to come back.I personally feel that it is harder for teenagers to get settled into a totally different lifestyle so that might have been the case.He also gave a break to his career as a dentist and wanted to pursue some business options there but as he himself says is not that shrewd to do business in Pakistan by himself… .So that was another reason for him to return.
If you would have asked me a decade ago,I would have said ‘yes’ in a heartbeat. Now I am not sure we want to move back. The reason being that my husband does not want to go back and with the passage of time I know he might not change his mind. But who knows.
If I were to go back my only reason at this point would have been my family.I would want my daughter to experience the relationships which are precious and not available to her here.Unfortunately, there is no other reason for me at this point which might make me wanna move.
I am moving back, number one reason being i have been here for 8 years only and i miss home. Reason two my husband even though after spending more than half of his life here wants to move back.
Its not as bad in pakistan as a lot of ppl think it is. Yeah living in Pakistan and maintaining a certain lifetsyle is expensive, yeah there is loadshedding and other issues, yeah ppl are dishonest , the traffic is bad, the systems sucks but still its home for me.

For me our parents are the reason to move back and obviously it's our home. Secondly we want to able to make a difference even if it's the size of a miniscule. Let's see how far we stick to this. Though I have no qualms in saying I love the uk too. Life here offers the stability which life back in Pak never has.
I was born here in the UK and have recently come back from holiday abroad to Pakistan and have got to say I would actually consider living there on a temporary basis. The weather is great there and the expenditure is a lot less. I felt people back there had more of a relaxed attitude to life then here and I liked that. Also the shopping was ;)
imagine pakistan closes doors to oversea pakistanis (for whatever reason) and us/uk/etc. starts deporting British/american pakistanis ... it be SO funny
but pakistan will always accept no matter how much one dislikes the land, condition or the people
While I would love to move back to Pakistan, there are few reasons that stop me. First, I dislike...um...our people, well most of them or at least their attitude towards life, second, which technically gets covered in the first reason, is that I dont want to be around most of my relatives back home, its not that I dislike them, just that I don't like them...lol. I am sure feelings are mutual. Third, I dont want to be part of the exploitative system that I love to bash while living here, cuz I am sure once there I'll find tons of excuses to justify it while using it to my own benefit.

that's what my relatives say..."it will be so funny". They love seeing others in trouble.
