Re: Moving Around

What? Are you a slow mover?

Re: Moving Around

Yes, I would, and I have moved with my husband after marriage. I know many girls who when deciding to get married insist on living in a city that is equally distanced from both her and his parents. I was born and raised in Canada and moved to Chicago, then stayed in Michigan with his family, moved to NYC for 5 years and now moving to California for 2 years or possibly more. I'm not sure where we'll settle down. Both of us love travelling and living in new cities. I don't feel like i'm being dragged around at all. I'm absorbing all of these new experiences and because I love my husband I would follow him anywhere. Now that we have a 3 yo daughter and another one due in April, we would both like to start settling down.

Re: Moving Around

hmm…moving around within the US is one thing. How different really is California from Chicago? Is it as different from Pakistan?

Its all relative too - depends on where you’re being asked to move. Would you be as willing if he told you his job is taking him to Communist China?

FG:  Too bad, you’ll never find out :snooty:

Re: Moving Around

Well moving further and further away from my family is hard even if it’s within the same continent. We keep moving to new ciites where we don’t know anyone and it’s like starting over, making new friends, becoming familiar with the place. But he’s considering doing work in Italy or Doctors Without Borders in Africa. Ofcourse I would go with him. But when you have kids in school then it’s hard to just spur of the moment, pull them out of their routine.

Re: Moving Around

Well just buy her another rocking chair and sit her alongside yours.

Re: Moving Around

PCG you must be a right wing republican for making an ignorant statement like that. Your nick name is not bubba by any chance

China is not what it used to be in the 60s, you will be surprised to see Bejing of this new millenium. If my boss had not offered me a 40% pay raise for staying I would be living in China just now.
