Okay, everyone keeps talking about how wax is way better than cream or spray for hair removal of under arms & under legs. I have been using the Veet cream since age 12 probably.

After the incessant requests of my cousins, i tried waxing my under arms/ under legs using the Veet Waxing strips. It was the most painful, torturous, scariest thing i have ever done to myself. My left under arm was all so bruised & it still hurts so bad. I have been waxing my legs and arms since years so waxing properly is not the issue here. My skin is too sensitive. I just could not stand the pain so i left it half way through. Many of you may say why not get it professionally or ask some one else to do it. I am not too comfortable with the concept of another woman seeing me naked as aurat ka bi aurat sai parda hai. So is it really such a crime if i dont wax my under arms & legs and stick to the creame?

I dont see the dire need of switching to waxing.Girls say that waxing stops hair growth. I dont see a very big difference on my arms or legs. Its not like my husband would faint if i had been using the creams. The outlook is pretty much the same. The deed of using the cream is done so the thick hair or whatever people say against the creams, the damage is already done which i personally dont feel much. I dont see the point why i should go through all of the torture when i can be better off with the creams/sprays?

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

^havnt you noticed alot thicker hair growth with creams ? and most of all i used creams/sprays too for a little while but my underarms became hyperpigmented. and though i have tried exfoliating and scrub but they arent still back to normal :(

gina any suggestions ?

Daffy havnt you experienced the same problem??

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

The benefit of waxing is that you can wait longer before you have to remove the hairs again as they are being extracted from the root, whereas depilatory creams only 'trim' hairs from the surface, hence growing back faster! Also creams tend to discolour the skin, especially desi's!

cream darks your skin

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

if it the creams work for you, then stick to it.

most people don't like them because of hyperpigmentation, burning, having to use them often, etc.

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

Do whatever YOU are comfortable with....doesn't really matter which way you go about it.

The only reason I prefer waxing to any other method is because of the fact that you dont have to worry about it for the next 3-4 weeks.

Damage is not already done. You can still change it. I used creams for four years & have been waxing since 6 years now. No doubt there is a difference. I can easily go without any clean up for 1 1/2 months or in some cases even 3 months. Only eye brows & upper lips need attention every 2 weeks.

If you did it yourself. There are many reasons why it didn't suit you. You probably pulled the strip wrong way or rubbed it too hard on your skin. You probably didn't stretch your skin enough. Which obviously is not easy if you are doing it yourself. Second there are different kinds of waxes for different body parts & skin sensitivity. Maybe try something else.

Also if you are not comfortable exposing yourself. Wear a tank top or a short sleeved shirt. You are covered & you can get the job done.

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

I have been shaving my arms and legs for 5 years now. I tried waxing a few times in the past but it was just way too painful, caused ingrown hair, and it's not as convinient as shaving.
For upper lips, eyebrows and chin area I thread
Everythign else, shaving is the best.

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

omggggg you shave ur ARMS?!?!`

A lot of people shave thier arms.

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

i think i am the other way around. creams doesn't suit me, they burn my skin and the burning feeling continues days after i use them. i like waxing more because even if they hurt, the pain only last for a second and then i am hair free and pain free for a long time, but with creams the pain continues days after i use it (cuz it burns my skin literally, after i used the creams i can see dots of that brownish looking dead skin that covered a wound after few days (sorry i can't think of the name, scaps???)

maybe you should try a different bran then veet (i love veet's wax btw) and see what else might work for you.

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

hi

cremes darken the skin, and wax makes the hair grow back thick

i would advise laser, as it is safe and effective. contact me for more details.

endure the pain, its worth it.

Really??! very confused look

^ I think it makes the hair fine and reduces the growth too..

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

you dont need to wax it atall..use whatever ur comfortable with...i know thth creams makes the skin darker n wax is sooo painful..its a myth that waxing reduces the hair growth, only the hairs takes longer to growback...but the pain n the mess takes even longer to be forgotten...if you want you can try braun's products..its not messy like wax..it will take only 5min to get ur ungerarms hairfree..ifyou dare you can ues it underlegs to..you can also use it for legs and arms or any part of your body...or just use creams:)

Re: What is the big deal if i dont want to WAX & stick to creams?

i just dont get it tht why some ladies think thah waxing is worth it?? is it right to make women suffer from everything??even for small things v have to visit parlors n get tht thing done?wats the big deal if the use of the creams make the skin darker!!women dont have to be concious abt everything!! n laser is xpensive n doesnt remove the hairs perminantly!!

YES i shave my arms and legs. for underarms, i use the cream coz its kinda hard to shave that area. I've been shaving since i was in 8th grade and now im 23! I dont know why desi people are so shocked, all my american friends have been shaving since they were 14.
