The rule is now in force. An old thread can be revived provided it is relevant to the current discussion, not just to put a smilie and revive it. AQ the example you gave you could have approached the mods before reviving the thread and obtained their agreement. i am sure they would have agreed. If you revive without an explanation than how are mods to know what your intentions are.

I am glad you opened this thread. I didn't bother reading all of your post but I do want to clarify something here:
The rule has always been there, but it was never written anywhere. It was agreed by the cafe mods that we will handle each case individually but there's no need to have it in the books because that's not something you get to see everyday.
However, now that we have some people who like to go around the rules, we felt the need to have it written to babysit them. We fully understand that this won't keep them from going around the rules, and I promise we won't be "lakeer kay faqeer". I guess some people missed the part where I mentioned "mods' discretion". If a thread is brought back up after 364 days without a valid reason, believe me, it is going down.
Also, if you are missing your dear friends, you don't have to revive the threads that contain their conversations, you can also open a new thread and praise your friends that are not even on gupshup reading your posts.
Sometimes there are other propblems that arise when a thread is revived but I don't see the need to get into details.
As Ehsan bhai said, it's time for you to move on, really.

so far, it came into writing under "Cafe' Policies" but I am sure it can be applied else where as well, though I hardly remember if any of the older thread brought back by me in General, poetry, or other forums ever got pushed back.. i have seen older threads getting locked in General and Life forums brought back by others because those threads were irrelevent and out of context....
