Getting job is a bit tough but not impossible.. but you need to be highly qualified.. warna yahan MS Engineers bhi farigh phirte hain..

But owning a business is a piece of cake if you have a little investment..

Like degree level qualified? Why do you have to be highly qualified? Even in western countries you don’t need to be highly qualified.

Ha everyone always says open a business in Pakistan. I don’t think there’s that much money to be made in owning a business in Pakistan or is there?

Actually there are quite a few on GS who did it. Some names are slipping from my mind but I do remember @partyslims and @Captain1 atleast who moved. There was another very active poster who moved back and started his business. Last he reported he was very happy there.

I moved back to Pakistan, to be honest it?s all depend where and how you live , I enjoyed living there ( I?m back in US again ) because we have maids, Nannies, drivers, chef all available on reasonable salary. And for finding job it?s depends on your degree, I have seen engineers making good money there. As for doctors if they have their private clinics other than their hospital job they make a lot of money from their clinics too, rest if someone wanna start a business there then life is pretty easy too, but at the end it all depends if you have some amount of good money, because I have seen so many middle class families there who are struggling to survive.
If you have more questions regarding any city like for schools,Universities or restaurant, shopping or where to find a good house etc let me know .

Arcana Cabana, another important question you should ask those who had a positive experience of moving back is whether they were brought up in Pakistan for a considerable part of their life before moving to the west in the first place. Because the place where we spend our good years (childhood or teenage) usually play a role in how acceptable we are to moving back.

How comes you moved back to the states? Didn’t like it? You don’t need to reply if it’s to personal.

I’m not planning to move there. Though I have a proposition that I am slightly considering but I can’t see me living there. Just wanted to see if others have done it and how it has gone for them.

Well that’s not an important question that I personally need answering. You’re free to ask it.

Karachi .

Karachi is nice. Haven’t had a chance to wonder the beach yet though. :bummer:

Money plays vital role when moving from one place to another.
If you have enough money, doesnt matter where are you moving, to west, to east or to middle-east!

One of my cousins was unable to get any kind of decent job here and now owns Getz Pharma there, I hear his home in Defence in KHI has a big enough yard to grow all his own veggies and live like a king.

Went to Karachi for a brief period in Jan this year and ventured out of Clifton/Defence area one day to see how this largest city of Pakistan and 'economic backbone' is developing and progressing since I last visited many years ago.

There was three times more traffic on the streets than last time and was running in all directions like hapless rats on same roads despite all the traffic signals and newly built fly-overs which frankly looked ugly and poorly planned/built. There was probably a four folds increase in dirt and garbage being piled up on both on and off the streets, most of the roads were broken down, and the vehicles running on them (both private as well as public transport) were in even worse state. Most of the public sector buildings were also in a very dire state.

It rained on second day and some of the streets looked more like sewage canals and overground gutters. The common men on the streets looked poorer and unhappier than the last time, most of them whining about the rain, heat, pollution, traffic, corruption, inflation etc etc etc.

The only change I noticed was some of my wealthy relatives were driving their Mercs and BMWs (they previously owned Pujaroes, Toyota etc) and were using iPhones and other expensive gadgets. One of my friends who used to own a single wedding venue now has four and our neighbor uncle had bought two more petrol pumps on the highway.

Rich are getting richer, the poor are getting even poorer, and this is what I noted and felt. The income inequality was mind-boggling and it looked like there were two states, two cities within a city.

Even if the economy is improving, and wealth is being created, its fruits are not shared by the whole population of Pakistan. All the benefits, wealth and prosperity is going to people who were already wealthy and affluent, and the people who really need to have these benefits to climb up the poverty ladder and have a decent life for their families are gradually being pushed into more deprivation, substandard living conditions and destitution.

Same old, same old, just the more of same old, some things never change.

Jee degree level qualified.. but luck counts.. and it all depends on fate.. though there are more chances of comfortable living in western as they’ve maintained policies well and well-managed systems..

You can’t say there ain’t money in businesses here.. again my answer is, it depends on luck and fate.. there are millions of people earning millions a month.. it just needs a good click to drive on a good earning track.. however owning a business usually goes well.. and there are millions of businesses you can do here.. and by millions, I mean millions.. however, live where you finds peace of mind.. Zindagi chal sow chal ka naam hai har jagah..
