Mourinho ready for Chelsea challenge](http://uk.sports.yahoo.com/040507/3/3p3s.html)
LONDON (AFP) - Porto boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is “ready for a new challenge” and interested in becoming manager of Premiership side Chelsea.
Mourinho has been tipped to succeed Claudio Ranieri at Stamford Bridge after leading the Portuguese side to the Champions League final with victory over Deportivo La Coruna this week.
Chelsea missed the chance to face Porto when defeated 5-3 on aggregate by Monaco with Ranieri expected to be replaced by the London club’s billionaire club owner Roman Abramovich for failing to win any silverware this season.
While Mourinho has insisted he is only thinking about his current club’s Champions League final, his presence at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday only served to fuel speculation that he will be moving to London.
And he admitted that he was tempted by the challenge.
“Chelsea are a great club so, of course, they interest me,” said Mourinho.
"Nothing has been signed or agreed yet and we have to be professional.
“They have not contacted me directly, but they have contacted people close to me. But I don’t know much more and can’t say more.”
"It is only fair that I remain committed to Porto. Anything less would mean we would not be ready for the Champions League final.
“But I am an ambitious man and I have taken Porto a long way. Now I am ready for a new challenge.”
Mourinho added: "Managing in the Premiership has always appealed to me. It is a huge challenge and I would like to see how far I can go.
"I have had several offers from England but it has to be the right one.
“Having enjoyed my time in Porto, going to another club has to be the right choice.”
