So good to see the latest technologies being offered in Pakistan. :k:
Motorola to Build Pakistan Network
Motorola Inc. said Wednesday it has reached an agreement with telecommunications company Mobilink GSM to create a wireless network in Pakistan. Motorola will design and set up the system using WiMax, a technology that allows transmission of wireless data over long distances. The network will cover major metropolitan areas in Pakistan including Lahore and Islamabad and will allow Mobilink to extend its cellular service to include high-speed broadband.
This is the second such system Motorola will create in Pakistan and its fourth in the Middle East and Africa region. Mobilink, which is one of Pakistan’s leading cell phone providers, has been a Motorola customer for 14 years. The company said it has 29 million customers and is owned by Orascom, an Egyptian telecommunications company.
i can wish only to saw a muslim company instead of western. Why we are so behind just look in your current sitting room is their anything built by muslims. :(

Bhai sahib,
Technology is never Muslim, Hindu, or Christian. Wimax is the latest tech for wireless internet (read broadband) and TV broadcast delivery.
And believe you me, the latest tech (95% of the time) comes from California.
Motorola has announced plans to deploy a WiMAX network in Pakistan covering the major metropolitan areas on behalf of local operator, Mobilink. Under the terms of the agreement, Motorola will design, plan, deploy and optimize a WiMAX network for Mobilink, deliver integration and support services as well as indoor and outdoor customer premises equipment (CPE) units.
The total amount of the purchase price will be financed by Motorola. This is Motorola’s second WiMAX 802.16e network in Pakistan, with the first being a turnkey end-to-end nationwide WiMAX/IMS network awarded in 2006. “This is another example of Motorola’s continued commitment to bringing the latest technology to Pakistan, from delivering the first GSM network in 1994 to the country’s first nationwide WIMAX 802.16e network in 2006. This second Motorola WiMAX 802.16e network in Pakistan, delivered to our long-standing customer Mobilink, further reinforces the confidence of our Pakistan-based customers in Motorola’s technology and services,” said Ali Amer, vice president sales, Middle East, Africa and Pakistan, Motorola Home & Networks Mobility.
mobilink works on its own agenda and business links. if they have any available "muslim" wimax company they may have opt for that in egypt or Pakistan or anywhere else.
wimax and other telecom hardware mostly made by Motorola, Siemens, Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco, Nortel etc they have already invested and done research since ages for equipments.
the only way to develop own high tech companies, is either buy them. or start from scratch. choice is yours.
^^ i dont agree on 150 years though, as time passes progress can be very shorter to achieve as we dont have to re invent the wheel but to develop upon whats already there.
well this isnt the first, warid allready launched wimax under wateen telecom and ptcl are also opening it.
but yes the similarity is that they are coming because of a prosperous pakistan thanks to musharraf and his policies

Not really, the only problem is that the upper EM band it operates in, is shared by Sprint and some other provider in the US (North America?), but in Pakistan that shouldnt be a problem.
