THE 2013-2013 Bahraini motor racing season will get underway this September, it was announced yesterday.

The Bahrain Motor Federation (BMF) released last night its official calendar of national racing events for the new campaign.

The season will begin with the first round of the Bahrain Karting Sprint Championship on September 14 at Bahrain International Circuit’s VIVA Karting Track in Sakhir.

The series will feature nine rounds in all and it will conclude on May 10 of next year.

Meanwhile, Bahrain will be hosting the CIK-FIA World KF Championship as well as the CIK-FIA World KF-Junior Championship from November 21 to 23.

This year’s events follow the grand success of last year’s CIK-FIA U18 World Karting Championship and Academy Trophy, held in the kingdom.

Another major international event taking place in Sakhir will be the second edition of the Six Hours of Bahrain, part of the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

The event, which will be the season finale of the WEC, will be held from November 27 to 29.

Back on the karting track, a pair of endurance races will be held this season. On December 6 and 7, a 12-hour challenge will be taking place. Then, on January 31 and February 1, a 24-hour race will be held.

In circuit racing, the BIC 2,000cc Challenge will be back on track starting with the first of eight rounds on October 11. The season finale will be held on May 2, with May 9 a date reserved in case of any unforeseen changes to the season calendar.

Finally, the Bahrain Drag Racing Championship, held along BIC’s world-class quarter-mile strip that is a part of the National Hot Rod Association Worldwide Network, will feature five rounds.

The season’s first Test and Tune will be held on October 17, with the first round scheduled between October 29 and November 1. The fifth and final round will then be held from April 22 to 25 next year.
