motivation

how do u give someone motivation?

lets say you have a sibling and they seem to be not getting anywhere with their life. You know they have potential, yet if they dont even try, how do u make them?

After countless discussions and new ideas, month after month… u still seem to be in the same spot.

Has anyone been in a rut where they just cant seem to get themselves out of? like, they dont even want to try to do something because they are afraid of failure.. so better not to try at all.. cus u would not have failed if u’ve not even attempted..

how do u get urself out of this depression (if that’s what it is)

Re: motivation

Motivation depends on two factors. The need to be motivated and the believe factor on the solution that is given to take care of that need.

You cant motivate me to drive from Sydney to Melbourne if
1. i dont see a need of doing that
2. or the vehicle (your car) that you are offering to give me is not in good condition so I dont think that it could take me there.

Re: motivation

im talking about more important things.

like getting a job or studying

Re: motivation

if they are adult ,I would leave them alone for a while. Let them learn their own lesson.

Re: motivation

i guess. But doesnt the sense of responsiblity... or even feeling like a parent, make u just want to do something for them

Re: motivation

I would find out what motivates them first and use that to push them. Everyone has a different version of motivation. What motivates you might not do a thing for me.

But if you were to find out what does end up triggering or pushing this person...you might have a shot at getting them to budge.

Re: motivation

You have to dig deep to find out the reason behind their lack of motivation and deal accordingly.
There can be many factors contributing to lack of motivation.
1. Depression.
2. Lack of opportunities
3. Lack of talent and drive.
4. The belief that it is all pointless and I do not want to be part of rat race.
5. Some kind of trauma to the head or brain.
6. The urge to live a simple , un complicated life.
7. Phobia of competition.
8. Want to do something different than what you want them to do.
and many many others. If possible and required seek professional help.

when a person lacks motivation to do anything in life....or has stopped doing things he/she was good at previously...that does imply that the person is going through a bad patch in life...where he she has stated doubting his abilities...

to deal with it,parents or family should stop making him feel that something is wrong with him/her....act normal and give him time to deal with it....take steps to change his enviornment that maybe for a while or so....like going for a walk with them....give them small tasks etc to let them feel good about themselves...give them ALONE time...and keep them involved at the same time....spend quality time with them and see what really makes them happy and brings them out of that state of mind...like take steps to motivate them without them knowing that ur trying to help them out...

Re: motivation

When I was in high school, I had that problem, so My dad got me a job at a factory... he said " you know this is what you will be doing, so go ahead" anyways I wanted to prove to dad I could, but oh did I hate that job..... Anyways,,,, after that summer... I made one pact with myself .
I am not ever going to do that again..... So find him/her some thing stupid, and get the parents involved....
