I only have boys but I'd like to think that I'd have the same outlook if if did have a girl or 2....
Having a child, no matter what the age, is a huge responsibility. And to grant them privacy, I feel it is a privelege that needs to be earned. If the child (whether male or female) is deserving of such privacy then hands down it will be granted. But poor grades, lack of socialization, poor social skills etc....that is cause for concern and needs more intense monitoring.
