Mother's Day

Re: Mother's Day

With all due respect, we are focusing on our path, so you'll kindly leave us to it.

Re: Mother's Day

I dont think I ever saw it written anywhere in Quran that celebrating a day just because westreners do it is haraam. And if that celebration leads you to do good deeds, then whats the harm?

I can understand that most of you have some pointless hatred for the word west, and hate everything that has anything to do with it. I think, westreners are 100s of times better people than we are, it shows in there societys and countries how organized they are.

Islam never told you to hate west or east. It is all Allahs world. :)

Its true they're religiously misguided, but of the good of their practises why can we not copy? Surely, there is no sin in copying a righteous deed? If there was, then there Allah wouldnt have sent Muhammed (PBUH).

I celebrate Christmas in memory of our prohpet Isa. I dont pray to him, but i remember him in reverence.

I celebrate Valentines day, not to date girls, but to show affection to my fellows.

I celebrate Easter, not to glorify an saint, but to join in the atmosphere of peace and hapiness it creates.

I celebrate Birthdays, to thank Allah for keeping me safe through another year.

I dont think I've sinned.

Re: Mother's Day

and you try to prove otherwise that you are not acting stupid by giving reference where it says clearly (NOT BETWEEN THE LINES) that its not allowed.

please give reference only from Quran al Hakeem. as i have no trust in any other book.

Re: Mother's Day

Its not about west or east.........its about following believers or non believers.muslims or non-muslims.There are many muslims in both west and east.
Its not about hate towards non muslims.........its about not copying and following the non-muslims.
Islam is the best and perfect religion.......and we should only follow and practice it.
If you are a muslim and you celebrate all this stuff.........it shows that you don't know enough about islam nor about christianity.
In uk many pagans and ethiests celebrate christmass too.......they even don't believe in Jesus(AS) at all and they still celebrate his birthday........
So people like pakup want just parties...........wanna have some fun.
bcoz life is all about fun in thier eyes........is'nt it.

Re: Mother's Day

Look at you..........why are you offended.I just ask 'are you a christian'?

Re: Mother’s Day

:smack:

Re: Mother's Day

sadiyah has told that mother's day is a greek practice..........they used to celebrate it bcoz of mother of god and godess....and christian celebrated in early days bcoz of mary.....

Re: Mother's Day

Why does it matter what some of these holidays were started for so many centuries ago? Nobody in the world has the intention on Mother's day to mark it for any connection to greek gods or to Christianity, so it has no religious significance at all anymore.

There is nothing at all religious anymore about Mother's day.

Re: Mother's Day

(a) Western Ideologies aren't limited to political ideologies only..

(b) Harmless? Their economies turn scales on these days if you're familiar with economics, you'll understand why this is. Secondly, it limits the love for a mother for one day. So those mothers rotting in a home, are treated with care for one day, and left to rot for the rest of the year. If this day was an awareness day to make EVERYONE love their mother EVERYDAY (what islam teaches) then it would be right.

(c) Refer to the beginning post. Mother's day has greater links to religious motives than valentines day.

Well i can't explain it to anyone who doesn't believe in hadith books...sorry

Re: Mother’s Day

But it has lost those links.

Valentine’s day has stronger links to religious motives because it still carries the name of a Christian saint. Whereas Mother’s day has now severed every single tie it ever had to religion.

Re: Mother's Day

apology accepted.

Re: Mother's Day

Because you're trying to underhandedly insult my views when you OBVIOUSLY know Im not a christian.

Well if a non-beleivers gonna give his mother a present, maybe you'd feel the urge to resent your mother for that, but Id have no problem copying him at it. Just shows how strong your "faith" really is, you cant do a good deed just cause of your hatred for non-beleivers who do it more than you. Islam is perfect, its about time someone really started following it. How would you like it if I told you "Hareem celebrates Eid? Hareem is just a guy who love parties" Eid, Christmas, Mothers Day etc are not parties, they're occasions and oppurtunities to do good so why avoid them, wherever they come from, they're a blessing. If Allah asked us to stay away from things that lead to haraam, why wouldnt he encourage us to go towards things that lead to good??

Re: Mother’s Day

No its not really that obvious. You hardly left out any Christain festival in the list of festivals that you celebrate. :hoonh:

Why you celebrate the festival is your personal matter. The fact that you celebrate the festivals with all your non muslim friends, makes it a collective act and you have no reason to get pissed if some one asks you if you’re a non muslim.

Would you bother to explain how these particular celebrations of mother's day, valentines day ,christmass and birthdays leads you to good?

Re: Mother's Day
