So I know one has to wait till 18-20 weeks to determine the sex of their baby. But all your moms out there, did you have an instinct before the gender scan as to whether you’re having a boy or girl and did it turn out to be right?? I’ve heard motherly instincts are often right 75% of the time but I am not sure if this number is accurate.
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
We didn't find out - but I had no idea either....no instincts for me

bring it down to 50% and I would agree with you :D
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
I have a motherly instinct which is entirel different than m husband's fatherly instinct and both of us have ver strong feelings about it.. at least one of us is in surprise at the anatomy scan!!!

You're just bitter that there is no such statistic regarding fatherly instincts! :D

It's sooooo hard to wait till the anatomy scan! I've heard some people do find it early during their 12 week NT scans but that's not always accurate?
I wonder how people keep it a surprise till the very end! How do you shop? There is nothing gender-neutral these days.
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
exactly... I dun understand the surprise part either.. for me it's a surprise regardless of when I find out and also just by knowing the gender it's not like you can see your baby.. it will be a surprise at birth anyway!! and you are right, gender neutral stuff is hard to find!!
I heard about the NT scan as well but of course it'a not 100% since it's done between 11 n 13 weeks.. I have heard taht it's easier to spot a boy at NT scan than a girl depending on the position!!
My midwife will not do a scan before 20 weeks.... no matter what!!!!
Are you expecting?
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
I knew I was having girls both times. I just did :D
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
I had a feeling I was having a girl. I also saw saw a baby girl in a couple of dreams, then in my 18th week scan, we found out it was a boy. Not that I really wanted a girl, but even after knowing, I still had a dream of a baby girl. Its' weird.

Yes I am :) I went in for my NT scan but the tech told me it's too early when I asked if she could tell me the sex. I mean Alhamdulillah the scan went great but I am oh so curious and I guess as a first time mom, just want to go out and buy ONE outfit! I am going to push for a scan at 18 weeks!
I knew I was having girls both times. I just did :D
Wow your instincts must be strong. I convince myself I have an 'instinct' but a few days later, my 'instinct' changes so of course I am just randomly jumping from boy to girl and have no clue as to what I am having!!!
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
I had no doubt...somehow from the first moment I found it, I knew it it was girls.
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
Sorta... I badly wanted a girl. There are too many boys and few girls on both sides of my family. But, I knew I was going to have a boy and I was right. Hopefully the next one will be a girl :)
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
My friend knew she was having a boy and had one
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
I went in hoping to find the gender at 12 weeks scan too after reading online it may be possible to find out. But the tech told us it wasn't. I felt a little angry that she didn't even try looking. :D
With my daughter I just knew it was a girl and wanted one desperately too. With both my boys some days I would think it's a boy and other days I would feel it's a girl. Although with the second boy I was pretty sure it was another boy. When the tech told us what it was at the 18th week scan, I told her I knew it. :D
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
cherry... we didnt do the NT scan for the fear of false positives but then I thought to myself I should have considering the tech may have told me something about the gender.. oh well too late now!!!
I wanted to schedule mine for 18 weeks but they told me that if they couldn't tell the gender, the insurance will not cover another scan!! I was like ok if I can wait this long, I will wait for 2 more weeks... have you scheduled yours yet???
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
I somehow always thought I will have a girl whenever I got pregnant. And when I got pregnant my instinct was mainly for a girl, although for a very brief time I thought it might be a boy.But as my gut feeling said it,we had a girl...:)
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
My insticts were completely wrong both times! I was sooo shocked at both my scans!
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
before marriage I had a random dream about a boy, and I just knew I was carrying a boy, but I didn't want to be too confident about it, the 18th week scan confirmed it. At 31 weeks though at another scan the doctor and the technician both said, oh it looks like a girl, (the legs were kinda locked) and I was SHOCKED! I had shopped and thought up a name already! they made me walk around a bit and scanned again and then to my relief said no its a boy!
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
^hahahaha during my school days, I used to work at JCPenney adn this one day a cutomer came to return a lot of baby items in pink.. I asked her for the reason and she pointed towards the stroller with a baby boy in it saying "this was supposed to be Shelby" we had a good laugh over that :D
things happen!
Re: Motherly instinct regarding gender
My instincts were right both times (boy and girl). I also had multiple dreams each time about the gender. The sacns confirmed it.
