Precursor of both Punjabi and khari boli was Shauraseni which was a dialect of Prakrit. Khari boli is the precursor of Hindi-urdu. The precursor of Sindhi was a dialect of Prakrit called Vrachada. Sindhi originally was widely written in Ardhanagari which was a script similar to the Sharada Script of Kashmiri as per al- biruni. The current script looks arabiscised maybe it is now easy to adopt an arabic like script for sindhi because it absorbed a number of persian and arabic loan words after the conversion of its people to Islam.
