How much important is your first language to you? Will to Pass it to your kids?
Now a days I have seen so many people doesn’t care about their own language and teaching their kids only English?
I understand English is an intentional language,but what is the reason you don’t want to carry your first language?

I love my first language-URDU. It really connects me to my roots, and Honestly knowing two languages is amazing. People don't realize, but teaching their kids their mother language is seriously a gift to their coming generation.

language is not a construct of 'words" alone, it carries with it a culture. Breaking off from your language is like breaking from your true identity. Kids must be colored in the color of their own culture and language is one of the most important catalyst that strengthens this bond.

^ I know what you mean,my mother tongue was not Urdu,but I was born in Pakistan so I learned Urdu, but we were taught our first language at home,so there is no harm if you want to learn and speak the language which is in your culture where you live,but why not pass our language to our kids?

I think some people believe that teaching too many languages to your kids make them culturally confused.

There have been researches that grip on many languages increase your brain capability. Crises is always of "identity" when bond with your own culture is week.

I can't imagine my kids not speaking Sindhi.
Same here, I know 6 languages but still I want my kids to learn my mother tongue first which is Saraiki that will be their mother tongue. Urdu is my second language and I don't mind it if my kids won't know it, they might learn Urdu by watching bolly movies and music but I 'll teach them Saraiki even if their father will not know the same language as me.It is all because I love my mother tongue so so much. :)

Immigrants tend to teach their kids language of the new land, in most cases because they themselves wish they could speak it.
Immigrants from pind (punjab, sindh) to big cities teach their kids urdu only and not their mother tongues because 1. They want to give their kids what they couldn't have i.e. the ability to speak fluent urdu, 2. They want their kids to succeed in life and they think that focusing on the lingua franca would achieve that, 3. Ehsaas e kamtari i.e. inferiority complex due to not knowing the local language and 4. The assumption that your own language is outdated and will make you look uneducated. This one is also called ghar ki murghee daal barabar.
The above points can be replicated for immigrants from pakistan to the west, just replace urdu with english.
Personally I think this is a load of bs that you shouldn't teach your child your mother tongue. You have to work really hard to ensure your child communicates in your language, especially in the west. There are people who will say there's no use teaching children your language because they will eventually revert to english anyway. And to those people i say how do you know when you haven't even tried your best?

I'll try my best to give my kids Urdu(my mother tongue), no matter where I live who I marry. Besides being multilingual is good for your brain development, science. And it'd help them communicate with at least 300 million more people.

oho. the urdu we speak today is not the urdu. the real urdu is something which you can see on the lips of KKF and Muqa.

Exactly. I also noticed this with my cousins brought up in Karachi. They speak tooti phooti Sindhi and I just hate the idea because their Urdu is not as good. For me a real person is one whose conversation tells you wherefrom he / she is. Munh teRha karna and conscious attempts to degrade your mother tongue leads you away from your roots.
If I know good Urdu that is just because of my parents and grandparents who speak ba-muhawra Sindhi. Due to listening to this pure Sindhi, I got good knowledge of my mother tongue that helped me understand Punjabi, Hindko, Saraiki and Urdu too. You need to have strong base in your language, if you want to have command over other language.
