I will add this to the theory. US wants to prove that Pak Army is useless even with nuclear option on the table so they want the contract to defend Pakistan to be awarded to them. Their economy will get a boost with that money. :D
Well my theory is that USA needed to pull a big rabbit right now. "Killing" the Mickey Mouse in North Wazirstan or some border area wouldn't have had that effect on the broader public. Given that the budget is on the corner and most probably a pulling out of soldiers as well (defeated)... who else could have helped US, if not Pakistan?
And as a side show, they needed to show that they have cloak of invisibility that their new weapon is wrapped in.
Wonder no one is asking, why out of 4 helis, only 3 could fly away and the 4th one was down without even one shot fired on it, LOL.

it can be even more interesting than that. After getting that contract, the US wants to outsource the labor to cheap Indian workers, thus helping the Indian economy as well. Once that is done you have Americans supplying the hardware to both sides within Pakistan and Indians supplying the labor for both sides.
