There is no strict or non strict Islamic Law in Bangladesh and Pakistan and thus the news is not entirely true. Got it?
But the village courts in those countries do claim to punish people under strict Islamic laws. The article didn't say anywhere the Bangladesh practices Islamic law, however it mentioned quite a few times that it happened in a remote village and the case was carried out in a village court, where they apparently practice "strict Islamic law".
Like I said, before. If believing this article is fake makes you sleep better at night, go for it...
