Who would you say is the most popular player from a team in that country and in other countries. I would imagine the home list would be similar to this. Current players that is
Australia - Gilchrist
Bangladesh - Rafique?
England - Flintoff
India - Tendulkar (bit of a no brainer here)
New Zealand - Cairns?
Pakistan - Afridi
South Africa - Ntini?
Sri Lanka - Murali
West Indies - Lara
Zimbabwe - Streak/Taibu
With some countries it would be that team’s best player over a period of time ie Tendulkar, Lara. With others it would be the most entertaining player ie Afridi, Flintoff and Cairns. This is only a rough guess, so if people think differently, tell me who you think. It would also be interesting to see who the most popular player is outside that player’s country. Would be fairly difficult to work out as it would vary from person to person and people to people. But then there is a fair difference between favourite player, and most popular player - ie I like Dravid more, but I know Tendulkar is more popular

Actually it is not true anymore. These days Dravid enjoys more popularity than Tendulkar due to obvious reasons.

Though Sachin has been much more popular, but Sehwag is on the rise and Dravid may have to live in his shadows after living in Sachin’s shadows for a while.

I think Sehwag is more popular than Tendulkar and Dravid. Although I like Dravid for his batting. If Sehwag remained in the current form for a long time, he could be the next Gilchrist of world cricket (already showing signs).
