Jospeh Stalin - while the entire history of the origins of the Cold War is in the process of being re-examined and re-written, one thing is clear contray to teh popular belief Uncle Joe never had any intenton of invading Western Europe nor his country could afford to anyway. There was no real desire from their side to advance Soviet style communism in rest of the Europe. The Soveits were perfectly happy to mind their own business in Eastern Europe and let Western Europe get on with theirs. However, no prize for guessing who was behind crystalising the whole East -West divide and create an atmosphere of fear, mistrust and panic in the continent. The Cold War in Europe was indeed started by Great Britain.
