Most frequently (and infrequently) asked Interview Questions!

Re: Most frequently (and infrequently) asked Interview Questions!

Sara, in Dubai , interviews are done like that in some places. I remember many moons ago I had been to an interview and the guy asked me why I wasnt married yet !!! I got stunned but was at the start of my career and didnt know very well how to handle this without getting scared of angering the guy who was interviewing me .

But hey, life is very different outside the west!

Re: Most frequently (and infrequently) asked Interview Questions!

wow that’s…ew!!! :bummer:

I just realized this thread is 2 years old. So around the same time back, I was looking for work in the desi section of my neighborhood…several places had signs up that said help wanted. A few were at pharmacies for cashier or pharmacy tech positions…they asked the typical desi questions… "are u married? kids? etc
(I should have gone running in the other direction, as te place I ended up at was full of awful people and super crappy…but ah well you live you learn)

Not exactly interview questions but in my experience hwen you apply for retail jobs, you go through really really long questions about your personality and such.

I was interviewing last year and I thought it was kind of unusual and threw me off: “What do you like to do for fun? :)”

Another place I interviewed for, they gave me a test to complete in 15 minutes. 15 questions…the most ridiculous questions ever…riddles, algebra, etc. I got the job and later I was snarking about ti and everyone said they had failed it… :hehe:

I thought it was sneaky, as the interview had already lasted an hour, and once you’ve wrapped up are standing and about to leave, you start to come out of interview mode (though of course an interview doesn’t really end until you’ve left the building). I responded with, the question I had prepared an answer for in anticipation, and never came up was x, my answer is y.

In any case I’ve been called back for a second interview

“why are you so awsome”

I just am :snooty:

Re: Most frequently (and infrequently) asked Interview Questions!

Tiger, I understand where you are coming from. I say so from experience, I have asked that question in the same fashion a couple of times and I have never done it with the intention to catch them off guard but just to tone down the interview and enter into a non formal conversation zone.

Anyhow , all the best for your interview.

Re: Most frequently (and infrequently) asked Interview Questions!

One thing that has always put me off a job role is the personality questionnaires. A serious deal breaker. Seriously, so many times when I saw the results ( of candidates ) , I could tell how it only gave us an idea of the broad personality type but never the detailed personality type of the potential candidate. I can still remember we hired a group of 8 individuals and ignored their personality tests , they did really well for themselves . So I have lost faith in the personality tests ! they are only indicators and nothing more.

Re: Most frequently (and infrequently) asked Interview Questions!

^ yes. and also, sometimes those questions are just really really ridiculous.

"how would you react to an angry customer?
A. Apologize
B. fight back with them

OK not those exact words but you get what I’m trying to say. Like the answers are SO obvious.
