It is strange that the most of the these so-called Failed states have one common factor.. Involvement of USA.. the previous failed state "Colombia" was once US ally in its war against {put anything} and now it is Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Yemen, Pakistan etc and all of them have US presence.. all of them are being attacked by US and govt all all these states claims to have strong strategic relationships with US govt...
So to me, it is easy to find out the real cause of the problems these states are facing... it is US.. you take it out of the picture and might have better world to live in...

Any state where daily mass starvation deaths isa norm is a failed state by any definition. China is not and never will be.
The list was made by an American magazine called "Foreign Policy", It's not a list of "failed states" but actually a list of states most unfavourable to the United States Government. China's position in the list is proof enough of that, not to mention Pakistan's. (btw, why are the more succesful states borrowing money from a failed state?)
According to the list, a quarter of the world is a "failed state". Does that make sense?
