Lol @ FT !!! A simila thing happened to me when I'd gone to the Haji Ali Dargah and I slipped on one of the algae covered rocks!
I have so many embarrassing moment but this one stands out, at least for me!
I'd gone to my native place during a vacation and from there we had to go to another far off village for a 'mela' kinda thing! One of my cousin was married off in that village and being a stranger, I was made to go out for sightseeing with one of her sister-in-laws..Now, do not mistake me as being overly boastful about my appearance but dunno why I had people staring at me wherever i went..That girl said it's coz I am a "pardesi" and being a Mumbai gal, I obviously looked different...I felt very good being the centre of attraction but before my pride could reach my mind, one of my sandal's straps went kaput and it fell into a gutter while I was trying to cross it!!
Red-faced, I didn't know how to react and one of the guys tried removing it with a stick despite my refusal to wear it, while onlookers and passers by kept coming to me and asking, "kya hua ji?" with very dry yet sarcastic expressions! I literally had to run away from that place ....though I pity my sister's plight till today...saare taanay ussi ko mile honge na?
