Most contributing But Not Well Treated

Section of Pakistan society , in my opinion are overseas Pakistanis.

Overseas Pakistanis send home 8-9 Billion dollars every year, about 10 times the amount US gives for whom establishemnt is wiling to bend over any time, yet they have hardly any say in Pakistan and there is no one to protect their rights.

Thousands of them have had their property snatched by Gabza groups.

What can we do in this respect?

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

98% of overseas Pakistani send the money to their families, 2% for investing in a business so they can move back easily in near future.

Now they are doing this for their own future, yes remmitanes is good for Pakistani economy.

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

“most contributing”? seriously? in what sense and what stats are those? not “well-treated” compared to whom? what extra benefits would you like to have? anyways, here’s the accolade that might make you happy

This he said in his message on the occasion of Pakistan Achievement Awards held in London. The message was read out by the Pakistan High Commissioner to UK Wajid Shamsul Hasan.
The Prime Minister further said that the people of Pakistan have tremendous potential to contribute positively at the national and international levels and there are many examples of the high standards of achievements set by the Pakistani students studying abroad.
This is for the time that achievement awards, exclusively for Pakistani expatriates settled in UK, were organized and twenty eight outstanding individuals awarded in recognition of their performances in the fields of academics, science and technology, economic development of Pakistan, journalism, business, fashion, arts and sports.
In his address on the occasion, the Pakistan High Commissioner said that though Pakistan was passing through difficult times, with the commitment of present government and the resilience of Pakistani people at home and abroad, the nation will sail through the challenges and overcome difficulties.

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

more accolades for you

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

It is gratifying for us that a large British community of Pakistani descent, which serves as a source of strength for us and reinforces growth in relations between the two countries, is well placed and integrated in British society. You are indeed worthy representatives of Pakistan contributing significantly to enhancing goodwill and support for your country of origin. We are proud of your achievements. Your contribution to Pakistan 's economy through foreign exchange remittances and investments is also highly valued.
Even more important is the contribution that you make through bringing new ideas, perspectives and skills to Pakistan . I would like to see the establishment of a platform on which the youth in Britain and Pakistan could communicate with each other to promote cultural interaction, develop better understanding and exchange entrepreneurial ideas.

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

well iconoclast dont you remember the very special treatment expats got when their foriegn exchange acct were forcefully converted to rupees while the locals who were connected moved their funds overseas. I mean and then the govt bent overbackwards to please those expats by telling them they could buy back forex and to give the expats more opportunity to get sawab and serve the nation, they would be given a very special conversion rate.

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

mola jat in london

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

X2 - expats were not the only ones who were blessed with this "special treatment". an expat does not keep his life savings in these accounts, he only keeps it as a secondary account. my father lost a lot from his life savings, who had opened up a dollar account for my brother overseas, for his tuition purposes. a lot of people lost out for the same reason, and for them and us the blow was even more severe because we had not earned in dollars. we were all victims of fraud and deceit, Pakistanis suffered, both within and outside. period.

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

proportionally more expats were hurt.

Re: Most contributing But Not Well Treated

^ proportionally probably, but my point was that it was a no-win situation for everyone involved, everyone suffered, expats were not singled out.
